Thanks miniepicness. I just wish the offline version is supported too so that kids who do not have access to internet (or have limited network access) but have access to a computer, can still continue to learn Scratch offline. Will the Scratch 3.0 be online only or an offline version will also be available?Itll be coming the summer of 2017
Good luck to the Scratch team!

I'm curious as to what it will bring.I have seen them make some bad desitions, but not for an open source nonprofit. Also, they try to fix them.
I don't suppose you can transition over to some really powerful google servers?
Also, I don't see why some people have such a large issue with google.
“Don't be evil”
That's their motto, and i have not seen anything to prove the contrary.
Antitrust laws exist to protect the public from being stripped of choice, their effectiveness is another story which i will not be getting into.
Google doesn't have a track record of making people miserable, in terms of companies to worry about, this one isn't even worth mentioning.
Anyways, can't wait to see what happens with this!
I don't suppose moving to powerful google servers would bring about cloud lists? No, its going to be compatible, like 1.x to 2.x (squeak to flash)Scratch 3.0! Yay! But my only concerns about Scratch 3.0 are…
If Scratch 3.0 is compatible with Scratch 2.0 projects, then THANK YOU SCRATCH TEAM! You saved so much time for me!
I discourage the usage of Javascript because of how too fast its gone for color-sensing projects. Previous Penguin Dash games that I made would be unplayable because the player would fall through the floor on Javascript, just because it uses color-sensing scripts.
So, will Scratch 3.0 keep its original pace as Scratch 2.0? If so, then my time is saved! If it acts the same as Javascript, then I'll have to add ground sprites for the player and everything else to stand on for it to work properly.
So, that's about it. If Scratch 3.0 doesn't do any of those things, then thank you Scratch Team. You saved me tons of time and effort.
#Scratch3Hype
Scratch 3/Blocks is a new development from Google not related to Phosphorus, ScratchHTML5Player, and 2.0. Which means even though it's JavaScript, color sensing will work. Also since it's different sadly 2.0 projects will not be directly compatible, but they will probably make a converter
Phew, that's a huge relief!

Will Scratch 3.0 change the way projects work, like what 2.0 did?
Support.
May my currently shared projects not work anymore, due to Scratch blocks being removed / changed? Will I have to edit and slightly re - create my projects? Will Scratch 3.0 be completely different to 2.0, or can I continue using the horizontal blocks the same as ever? And will Google's collaboration bring changes to the Scratch homepage and introduce advertisements?
Despite my questions, I am really looking forward to seeing what Google and Scratch will do when they are brought together, it could and should create something wonderful ^.^

Something tells me this isn't a good idea….There was a huge discussion about this, but to conclude, Google has no real power over Scratch 3.0. This is just for Scratch Blocks.

I wasn't here to watch the beginning of the first generation. Nor for the second. But I'll be here for the third.

We view the Google announcement as one step in our process of developing the next generation of Scratch, which we informally call Scratch 3.0. This new version will be designed to run well on mobile devices and all modern browsers, and it will be based on HTML5 (moving away from Flash). We hope to start rolling out Scratch 3.0 sometime during 2017.google chrome doesn't support windows vista anymore, so I'm unable to update it. I'm also unable to update to windows 7, 8 or 10 because vista is embedded into the hard drive. will I be able to run scratch 3.0 with an older version of chrome? if not I'll cry. please don't make me cry

1. Please don't run an old version of Chrome. 2. There is no such thing as “embedded into the hard drive.” There is always a way to upgrade, especially to Linux.

Wow, this is amazing! I remember Scratch when 2.0 first came out, but that's a long story that would take up a lot of room. Will there be beta testers?\
