How to download projects?
I tried that. It doesn't work. If it matters, I have a mac.Did you wait for the project to actually finish loading to do that? xD The whole Mac/PC thing is abstracted by the browser, so no, it usually doesn't matter.

Happy Birthday! I did try waiting for it to load, but it doesn't work. When I click the download button, it lets me select a location to download it. But then when I try to find it, it's not there. Should I try a different browser?

If it isn't in the location that you chose when you wanted to download it, I would try another browser to iron out if the problem is with your browser.I tried that. It doesn't work. How to download projects?
My browser / operating system: MacOS Macintosh X 10.7.5, Chrome 31.0.1650.57, Flash 11.9 (release 900)
I tried Google Chrome instead of Safari, and it worked once I changed the extension from .sb2 to .sb. Once I tried to open it up in Scratch 1.4, I got an error:
Could not read project; file may be damaged:
(bad header)
In order to open Scratch, I have to go to the Scratch 1.4 folder, and click on Scratch.image to open it up.

How to download projects?
The problem seems to be you trying to open Scratch 2 projects in your Scratch 1.4 editor. Download the latest Scratch 2 offline editor from http://scratch.mit.edu/scratch2download/
