Does anyone know how to import 1.4 projects into it?

To be fair, he said 1.4. So you need to first convert the 1.4 project to a 2.0 project by uploading it to the website, and then downloading the ZIP.

Oh, that's right!
Alternately, import it to BYOB3, save as YPR, and import that to Snap!. Snap! does support YPRs, right?

Almost. Unfortunately not all my YPR (I have to admit: very complex) projects are imported by Snap. But I guess that for projects whose original format is SB it should be somewhat easier.

not all my YPR projects are imported by Snap.If you have an example that fails for a reason other than the 3.1 OOP stuff not yet implemented in Snap!, please post a pointer. Tnx.

This does have all the non-cloud features of Scratch 2.0, in some form or another, right?

With some extension, yes. It doesn't have the video and sound inputs of of the box.

I was wondering, how would one embed a snap project in the same way as you would embed a scratch project?

Would anyone mind telling me the differences to the Scratch related blocks between this and S2?
EDIT: Before I go rushing in to make an account: do you guys ever go searching through the database, and if so, can you see what email is assigned to my name?

<var> of <sprite> construction from version 3.1 is no longer available in 4.0. Is there a recommended replacement for it? Thanks!

Also is there any way to get the name of the sprite programmatically? So if I run a script inside sprite “Sprite 1”, can obtain the string “Sprite 1” from inside that script?

Sorry mmoroz, those features don't seem to have been implemented yet. I think that the OOP stuff comes back in 4.1.

Would anyone mind telling me the differences to the Scratch related blocks between this and S2?There aren't very many differences. We haven't quite implemented all the sound stuff yet, such as timbres. We don't have the Make a List button; instead, you use Make a Variable and just assign a list value to it. We have Booleans as a data type, so you don't see 0/1 or strings true/false when displaying the value reported by a predicate. That's all I can think of offhand but I'm sure I missed one or two.
EDIT: Before I go rushing in to make an account: do you guys ever go searching through the database, and if so, can you see what email is assigned to my name?It is technically possible for us to find your email in the database. We do so only if you ask us to, or if you violate the ToS in some way and we have to notify you about it. Read http://snap.berkeley.edu/privacy.html; I'm proud of it. It's written in English, by me, not by a lawyer. But if you're worried about it, get a one-time email from http://mailinator.com (whose privacy policy was also written by a human being (no offense, Jens)) and give us that. The downside is that if you forget your password we can't help you.

Thanks!Jens and I both feel frustrated about how long the 4.0 release has taken. We thought we were ready to go in August, and then school started and we heard about a few projects being corrupted in the cloud. We think that's under control now, although there are still a few missing cloud features (e.g., delete your account). Soon, I hope. And the 4.0->4.1 transition shouldn't take nearly this long, since we pretty much know what we want to do and how to do it.
