An Inside Look On The Furry Fandom

Mildly annoying for some people, sure. But completely magical for most others! Who wouldn't want a chance to make someone smile and brighten their day? Most furries are respectful of people and rules. As for who would buy a $1000 dollar fursuit, that would be people who love the fandom, and have a right to spend their money in the way they want to. Some fursuits are works of art that deserve going for such prices! I got the supplies for my fursuit for around $100 dollars that I saved up. So while it may be mildly annoying, fursuiting is just another form of acting, another way to have fun, and a way to make people happy.

Many people, though not all, in the fandom are not very social people. They tend to be artistic introverts that feel most comfortable at the table or computer working on their creative ideas. For me at least, when wearing my fursuit it allows me to be a completely different person. It lets me have the courage to come up to people and brighten their day. Going out in my suit and seeing the reactions of people makes me so happy. I love to see a smile on a child's face when they see me and come up for a high five.
A furry's character is very important to them. They spend a lot of time developing their personality and they often want to show people what they created. One of the best ways in my opinion is to make a suit of them.
Fursuits are expensive, it is mainly because the fur needed for it is pricey and the skill needed to make them is high. I know this personally because I made my own suit. I am sure there are things you would spend a lot on that I would not understand. For example I do not understand why people would spend so much on a cool looking car. That ‘cool’ car and that ‘normal’ car and both get you to where you want to go. So why spend extra?
It is hard to explain why being in a fursuit is so freeing because you are not a furry and therefore to not completely understand us. Just as I do not completely understand the people who buy expensive cars.

Does anyone know any good full-body fursuit makers? (by that I mean they make full fursuits, not partials)

Well, furries are a questionable topic to cover on Scratch. Are you sure you know what you're doing?

Furries aren't “questionable” unless you're talking about furries stereotypically.

Furries are regular people just like you and me. Being a furry isn't like gay marriage. Furries are just a hobby. People draw furries and fursuit all of the time.

Same thing with cartoons. Kids watch and make cartoons all of the time, but some adults make adult cartoons.
Anyway. I've seen furry communities on the forums before. Some are friendlier than others. AnthroCon is a good example of a friendly furry community. This project is to explain a fandom that's been misunderstood for a long time.
What's wrong with gay marriage! not that I am gay
its not that that is a questionable topic its was just a example as some people see it as bad some people see it as good you know what i mean?

I have absolutely no problem with furries. I'm not 100% sure on what furries are (do furries draw anthropomorphic characters and suit up or do you just need to do one of those things to be classified as one?) but I do know the stereotype is complete fluff. Not all furries are like that, just as all girls aren't fragile little flowers in need of protecting or all gays aren't high-pitched annoying blotches on the face of humanity. I draw anthropomorphic animals and so people immediately assume I'm this bad thing that no one likes to talk about. I only hope my parents never find out about the stereotype or I'm going to get a long lecture I don't need. As for the suits, I think they're art. The people who make them have to be very patient and precise, just like many other artists in other art forms. It's not bad, and it's certainly nothing to be ashamed of!

I may have summed up the gay stereotype in the wrong words here, but I hope you all understand what I meant. I quoted my own comment because the edit option won't show up on it by the way. Is that a glitch? Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.

I am pretty sure to be classified as a furry you just need to like anthropomorphic animals. I think Simba is an anthro, pretty much all the Disney animals are anthros if that is true.
