Scratch App

I think that it would be nice to have a mobile version of Scratch, with an app. Then, after you make something, all that you'd have to do to share it is wait until you have WiFi, then you could log in and share it to a special mobile section of scratch. I just want to know if anybody is on board with this idea.

An iOS app is not possible due to Apple's app requirements – apps can't execute code, which Scratch certainly must.
The Scratch Team (and some volunteers) is currently hard at work at an HTML5 player for Scratch, which means that you will be able to run projects on Scratch (but not edit them) even on mobile devices without Flash.

I understand that Scratch did have an iOS app but Apple took it down because they do not allow apps that interpret code.( QUESTION: if scratch made the app so you can build your games in the app, would that be interpretation, or just writing code. Maybe in the app you can't test your game, and then it won't be interpretation.)
Scratch is all about education, so why is Apple against a scratch app? Apple definitely doesn't hate education; I mean, there giving away a scholarship in the WWDC(World wide developers conference.), also, you can get discounts at the education store on Apple.com If we can get enough people to ‘sign’ this petition, maybe Apple will make an exception for Sctatch. You never know, Scratch might have introduced the next apple programmer to programming.
To sign this petition, please say ‘I want an app!’ And quote the last person so that all of the ‘signatures’ can be in one message.

Please help this gain the attention of Apple!

Doesn't matter how many people sign it. I doubt a large company like Apple will want to lose total control on what's on their devices.

Yep. Plus, who wants to make a game and NOT test it? What if it has bugs?

Cheddargirl and many other ST members have said they are discussing this, especially Mitch Resnick.

In the mean time, you could download a program called “Stencyl” which has built in functionality for creating iOS games. There are even blocks which allow you to take control of the accelerometer! It has the same block-snapping structure as Scratch plus loads more features and is well worth looking into (:

SORRY FOR ADVERTISING D:

Cool! If we show them enough of us scratchers want an iOS app, they might discuss it further.

Yes, but I'm not sure if we have HTML5 yet. And if that gets canned any time soon, there should also be a Scratch app on the Play Store. (Google will accept anything to be on the play store.)

As long as you pay the $25 to become a developer ( APPLE IS $100) and Google does run tests to make sure there are no viruses, spyware, etc… So there are some things that don't get accepted.

I heard somewhere that if a petition gets over a certain amount of signatures, the government will discuss it in parliament.
