Sound Quality
Hey there Scratch Community! So I have a question: I've noticed that songs on Scratch tend to sound, well…very low quality? (No, I'm not saying your songs suck) Scratch tends to have a somewhat low quality, compared to other websites, such as Youtube. I was wondering, is there a way we can increase Music Quality?

Not easily, and certainly not in the Scratch editor. The Scratch sound quality shouldn't be bad though: I think the problem is the sound effects being used are low quality anyway. Professional sound editing studios can be used to improve this, although it is a waste of time using them for such a small thing.
However, like I said though, sound quality should not be an issue in Scratch. However though, you won't be able to use really high sound quality sounds, because I'm sure Scratch would have some sort of limit.
Hope it helps

I'm somewhat of a guru when it comes to everything being perfect…sorry, I guess I'll have to deal with it. Thanks!

All sounds in Scratch that are uploaded are converted to an 88kbps compressed wave file. Yes, low quality! But necessary to keep project size below 50meg.

It is possible to upload high quality sound files through Scratch extensions (forum topic linked):
https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/91622/
Also, @comp09 made an experimental project without the use of extensions here:
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/47008552/
Not sure how that was achieved - you will have to ask the user.
As @footsocktoe said, high quality sounds will increase the file size by a lot, though!
Hope this helped!

Another reason to why imported sounds are low-quality is copyright. Even though the CC license is employed here, music artists may not be happy with their copyrighted music being used.

why does my sound always repeat? Please don't post on really old topics, because that's called “necroposting” and is not allowed.
