What does it mean to "curate" something?
I've been hearing this all around Scratch, and I'm embarrassed to say that I have no idea what that means. For anyone who knows, will you write back? Thanks!

A curator is a Scratcher who chooses projects to share onto the front page. If they favourite it during their week as a curator, then it goes onto the front page. Just read the description on this studio.

There are a couple of different positions on Scratch that are called curators.
1. Studio curators: These people have the power to add projects to studios, and remove projects they added. Or, if they are promoted to a studio manager, they have the power to change the name, thumbnail, and description. They can promote other people to manager, invite other people to curate, delete other curators/managers (excluding the studio's creator), and add/remove any project. Sometimes, in the Hour of Code studios, the Scratch Design Studios, Front Page Curator Application studio, etc. people will say something along the lines of “please wait for a curator to review it”. That is referring to curators of the studio the comment is posted in.
There are also SDS curators, which are Scratchers that curate the Scratch Design Studios (SDS), SWC curators, which are Scratchers that curate the Welcoming Committee (SWC), and HOC curators, who curate the Hour of Code studios (HOC).
2. You could also be referring to curating projects. That is a completely different thing. Every week, a Scratcher is chosen to be the front page curator by the Scratch Team. See this project for details on how to apply to be chosen to be that Scratcher. But that Scratcher can “curate” projects, which will place them in the 3rd row of the front page (which says “projects curated by ____”). The current front page curator just has to favorite a project, and it gets curated.
