Changing usernames- nicknames
There should be a way to “change” your username. You know how on YouTube you can't have two words in your username, but later can change it to two words? Perhaps we should have something in account settings where you can create a nickname for your account. Here is an example (I am on iPad so can't use real image):
Moon_Note (Pepperminty)
You can only create a nickname if you are in full scratcher status, due to “trolls” could be able to constantly change their nickname, overloading the server.
You can report nicknames if they are inappropriate, to.
Also, maybe you can only Change your nickname once every day?

I agree with this but what is the use of nicknames? No support.

Changing usernames- nicknames
I made this when I was twelve(?)
So I’m going to clear up a few things
-the nicknames would just be for informational purposes. It wouldn’t be an alternate URL to your profile. It’d just be listed next to your username like your location and scratch ranking is. It could just say something like “preferred nickname - Bob” to show thats a name they’d like to be known as. It wouldn’t be their new username, and multiple people could have the same nickname, it just lets people know the name you want to be known as without taking up room in your “about me”
-this IS NOT username changes. It doesn’t affect your username at all. It just lets people know your “name”
-it would be optional and not every user would need to use it. It would just be in account settings, with an option saying something like “what’s the name you’d like to be referred by?” and then you type in your nickname.
-this would be good for when someone made their account when they were really young and didn’t really know anything about good usernames and their username was just abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz, they could add a note saying the name they want to actually be referred by. Or if they changed their nickname due to personal reasons.
When I was younger I went by my real name but I eventually felt uncomfortable using that name publicly. So then I sometimes went by Crys (short for Crystal) or Christine. Then eventually my dad said I was like Luna Lovegood and I decided “ey I like the name Luna. That’s my name now. Deal with it” I still go by my real name and my username on here, but it’d be nice if other people knew the nickname I like to go by.

No support. Wouldn't it take up a lot of space though? Like for example on project pages? Like instead of showing “DataLabGames” is would show "DataLabGames The Scratcher". Also, it's kind of pointless in my opinion.

Semi-support. This could just take up space, but I guess it could be helpful for some people to show a nickname. o(^▽^)o

Support. It's taking up space in my signature to mention my nickname when it could just be more links. Perhaps when you have a nickname, it appears under your username in the forums, such as:

8.1 Changing Usernames
If a user could change their username (or even set a certain “nickname”), this could be very confusing for the Scratch community, especially for those following that user. In addition, this would make moderation of the website more difficult because it would be harder for the Scratch Team to keep an eye on what a user may be doing.

Also,
Would this be rejected, or would it be the same as having an account “nickname”?So it's just an informative thing, and your “nickname” wouldn't actually display anywhere else on the website? From what I understand, this is not rejected, same with doing so for pronouns and genders.
