Always happy to! The old / legacy architecture was (roughly … I'm simplifying things a bit):

Nginx (SSL Termination) --> Varnish (Cache) --> Nginx (Load Balancing) --> Django cluster

The new web architecture “splits” the traffic based on what has been migrated. Right now that's just the “/” homepage but will soon include many other pages now that we've seen how it performs under load. The new architecture roughly looks like this:

CDN (SSL Termination, Cache, and Routing) --> HAProxy (Load Balancing) --> Cluster 
                                          |
                                          --> Legacy System

Looks like the Scratch team forgot to normalize the URLs in Varnish before processing.

Note that Fastly is the CDN that Scratch uses for everything, including dynamic pages now. It's powered by Varnish and lets developers upload custom configurations. I would use it for my website…if it weren't so expensive.

The new homepage uses an entirely new way of rendering things. The Scratch team seems pretty eager to retire their old “less efficient” infrastructure.

Perhaps a userstyle should satisfy your desires.
