Would the function definitions be open source? If so, support, else no support.

Your idea would make designing Scratch APIs easier. However, may I suggest an addition? Since libraries often contain variables in addition to functions, I would like the ability to include them as well. Then, Scratchers would be able to better implement “class” sprites containing local variables for clones to use.

Of course they would be open source! Libraries would simply be a collection of define scripts. You can make them out of other people's scripts, make your own, distribute them, etc.

Sure, but my idea is more like “adding blocks to the palette by default” rather than “making it easier to make apis”

Okay, cool.

Also, how would Scratchers differentiate between custom blocks from different libraries with the same name and parameters? Would there be a namespace feature? Or would there be a separate color-coded category for each library?

I'd want to keep it as simple as possible. It's up to the ST.

Hi there! Please don't post on old topics as doing so is called necroposting, which is not allowed. Thanks!

Note: it is allowed only if the post adds to the discussion, but this is not the case.

Support, this could be useful for people who want their scripts in the Offline Editor.

The offline editors currently have no backpack in them, so if the ST added this then we would be able to import the scripts we need under a custom block (use a comment reminder if it involves events) and export it into one of the editors.

Half-hearted support. I thought of this too, but how would this be different than remixes?

You do realize that when most of these posts were created the general rule of “Say why” didn't apply to supports, two, the posts were created a long time ago so they won't see it or respond to it.

Anyway, this would be a nice implementation as I could definitely see the benefits of it, plus it would help a lot for complex projects and making them quicker.
