Best Paid Web host?

So I'm considering paying for a web host, however does anyone know which are the best? Thank you.

Check out HalfDollarHosting. They have great prices and reliable support.

Depends on your needs. I'm very pleased with Bhost for VPS stuff but I'm not sure whether that'd be any good factoring in the exchange rate.

I'm not sure if this is the best, but my website (cocolover76.com) uses multiple things:

1&1 domain –> Rackspace VPS for reverse proxy –> Slowish dedicated server located in my bedroom.

So what's the setup here? The 1&1 domain points to the VPS, which points to your server but hides your home IP address? Pretty smart I guess. I've never completely understood how VPS/VPN setups were effective, but I've never really looked into a legit paid one.

I don't know about VPN but VPS for me was a middle ground between shared hosting and a dedicated server. A server of my own was far more than I needed but shared hosting simply didn't provide enough CPU capacity for the wordpress plugin my shop relies on.

1&1 is probably the biggest scam out of all the hosting companies. Don't do it.

Wasn't planning on it.

There's a lot of people who would disagree with me, but I feel godaddy provides the best for its prices

If you have a higher budget and a bit of technical expertise, you can set up your own web server on a VPS. There are a lot of places that provide these at a very nice price, such as FragVPS. They're actually a LOT cheaper than most shared hosting places.
