The First Scratch Movie! (thats an hour long)
Hey there, guys!
Whoa, quite a task you've taken on, there! I'm very excited to see where this collab goes.
I have some experience with programming lengthy animations on Scratch - you may know my Colour Divide…? Anyway, episode 1 of that is 6 mins of (what I'd say is) quality animation, and it hit the data limit. I'm not trying to say what you're going for is impossible, but it will be difficult. At least, with the level of quality you're aiming for without hitting the data limit.
Then, there's the matter of pausing. It's pretty much impossible to practically implement pausing an animation in Scratch. But if your animation is an hour long, what if scratchers don't have time to watch the whole thing without stopping? Hmm, maybe you could do like scene selection or something… That could work!
I have a proposal for your collaboration that could solve both of those issues I pointed out… I'm sorry if it seems like I'm butting in, or being annoying or overly critical. I'm only giving some friendly suggestions. I just like to help out.
Okay, my proposal:
You could do the movie in separate parts!
One part per project.
It wouldn't be the same as like, an animated series, because you could release them all at once on the collab account. That way you have more leeway for top-notch animation, and scratchers can stop between the parts instead of watching the entire hour in one go.
Maybe each part could be ten minutes, still an unheard of length on Scratch, and then you could have like six parts to the full movie.
Just a suggestion.
If you need advice on making efficient, non-data-limit-hitting programming/animating, just give me a shout.

Okay! So, I was going to be a story writer, but since you guys already have a stable amount of them, I'll be happy to be a scriptwriter
I have tons of experience in writing stories, but never scripts. I'll give it a try! You guys really also have to think about that data limit, because 1 hour is unheard of. To do 1 hour, you'd need literally the simplest animation ever, and it might lag a bit if you have a slow internet connection, low ram, or a slow cpu.

Well, that could be used to get around the data limit. We'll think about it!

This thread is almost dead… but we're still talking about things internally!

We will consider you! Also, if you are on the PS4, how will you do the project? I don't think consoles have Flash on their web browsers.
