Prologue: Eleanor's POV

I stared into the dying embers of the once roaring fire. I sighed, I hated this life of running and hiding, but I did it for my younger sisters; Marina and Kylie. We've been like this for a while, since mom had… No.. No Eleanor. I scolded myself mentally. Don't focus on the past. I looked up, scanning the area for any threats. Next to me my sisters were asleep. I looked again. Suddenly a bright light appeared above me, blinking I discovered that the light was in the shape of a bolt. Follow it! Something seem to tell me. I thought it over hesitating to choose. Suddenly a loud bark came from behind me. I turned seeing shapes of wolf like creatures. Well then.. I guess we'll go.

“Marina! Kylie! Wake up!” They did with much protest. “Hurry gather the stuff!” We gathered our supplies, and I hid our fire, covering it with dirt. I turned around again, the beasts were very close. I grabbed my sisters arms.

“Run!” I yelled, pulling them along as I ran. They pulled back right before I crashed into three people. The oldest, was a boy about 14, had blonde hair, and blue eyes. He held out a sword. The other two were girls, the older one had short choppy black hair, and intense blue eyes, she was about 12. The youngest was 7, she had grey eyes, and blonde hair. The boy and the older girl charged at the beasts. The youngest followed only to be pushed back.

“No stay there Annabeth.” The boy yelled. The girl sighed, and pouted. She then studied me. I smiled at her and turned back to the fight when I heard a yelp of pain. The boy had just killed one of the beasts, but two others were charging at him, the girl was fighting another of the beasts. I noticed in the shadows were two more of the beasts ready to pounce at the girl. I grabbed my sword and charged at the ones hidden in the shadows.

Dodging an attack from one I threw my sword at the beast the girl was fighting. She turned surprised, then joined back in the fight. I picked up my sword to fight one of the beasts that had been hidden. We fought back and forth. Suddenly I hear a yell, and felt claws tearing at the skin on my back. I fell to me knees as the claws raked my back again, and I screamed. Holding up my arms to protect myself as the beast jumped at me again, I saw a flash of lightning shoot out at the remaining beasts. They turned into dust. I looked around, the girl who also had been fighting look at me shocked. (No pun intended) I stood up, but fell back spots dancing before my eyes. My world became hazy.

“Annabeth.. Thalia get the medical supplies now.” I heared the boy shout. “Hurry before-” I didn't hear the rest of the sentence because my world had become black, and I had passed out.
