macFirst, go to the project editor and in the top left says file, click on that. In the file menu is a button titled “download to your computer”, also click on that. Once you have saved it your computer, open up downloads and the usb on your desktop, and simply drag the file to the usb from downloads.

Same here, but I am using a PC. I can download the file, open scratch desktop client, but it will not let me open the project.

I know how! Okay, first, you have to download Scratch 2.0. Then, drag the folder that says .air and is brown into your applications folder. Then, double click on your project that you should've downloaded to your desktop. A pop-up window will ask you what to do. Click on the button that says Look for application or something like that! Then, your applications should come up. You then click on the button that says Recommended Applications and switch it to All Applications. Then, double click on Scratch 2.0
These instructions are for macs(at least macbook airs)

You can open Scratch 1.4 files (.sb) with the Scratch 2 Offline Editor, but you can't open Scratch 2.0 files (.sb2) with the Scratch 1.4 Editor.
