It is! Everything on Scratch is free, and always will be. If it suddenly cost money for a membership or something, we have some real problems here xD

Only the TUTORIALS on Tynker cost $50. I just checked a week ago and now to make projects with it it's free.

Not only it is free as in free lunch (no price) - it's also free as in freedom - you have the freedom to take the source code (yes, Scratch is open source) - and do whatever you want with it!

Playing (most) game is free.
Buying clothes and whatnot for your character isn't.

Roblox has sure changed since I've joined in 2009. I'm thankful that Scratch is completely free.

Scratch is educational and runs on donations so it's free for the user. I hope that clears some things up.
