Oh look! It's my first figure/figurine/trophy I've ever drawn! ^^ OF NEPETA, ALSO!
BTW, I used Zaneki's technique that she used to draw the picture that she sent on the Homestuck topic! Thick lineart! ^^
BTW, again, the shading looks pretty easy to me… I don't know why some Scratchers complained on the shadows
Finding the right colors, however, IS hard for shading, but nevermind that! ^^

(and how is your handwriting so good?? ;_; )

And you did perfectly on the shading. But if you'd like me to post an explanation on how I choose colors for shading/highlighting, I can certainly do so.
(and I know I've obsessed over it enough already, but do you mind if I save your picture to my computer? I just want to… look at it some more… :P )

I didn't think it would impress you so much XD
I played around with the “Oils” brushes a bit (but I never used the “Fine Soft Glazing” ones).
It's all made on 1 layer, which by ‘made’ I mean ‘drawn’, and it's originally not merged with the background (PNG!). I used the “Medium Bristle Oils” just for the lineart, and then I filled it out with the basic colors, using “Fine Feathering”. Then, I added the basic shadows (the darkest ones) and used your method. Then I added some highlights. All with the same brush. Tho, I had some problems with the head, but I eventually figured it out. For the highlight on the horns, I changed the Opacity a little (I think it was from 10 (default on that brush), to 6, and then some little 3). I didn't add too much highlights to the hair because I already tried it on the edges/tips, and it didn't satisfy me (I thought it didn't look good).
For the eyes, I made little circles under her hat's “teeth” ( :3 ), and then I added a darker, but smaller circle to the corners, or edges, of her eyes. Then, I filled 3/4 of the dark circle with ANOTHER, smaller, and a bit brighter, circle. There still remained some original color. Then, I added the basic little highlight, and, because I found it cute, I added another, small, but brighter, dot, near the highlight.
And now they look like little pearls! ^^
PHEW, my little rant about how I drew the picture and with which brushes. XD

BTW, for my handwriting, I don't know XD. I used… erm… Still dunno how you call it, so I'll trust the translator and call it ‘script’. Ok, I used scripting… letters…? They used to teach us that from our first 2 grades I think.

…I wish Photoshop had good oil brushes; all of the ones Elements has are these blotchy ones that aren't even good for shading smoke D:
EDIT: Okay, I really need something to draw. Can someone give me something simple-ish to draw? Something that'll take, maybe half an hour or so?

You can install the free version of Artewaver on their website!
I used the free version, too! ^^And the download is fast, so I don't think it takes up very much space.
BTW, select the “Default” (if your gonna install it), because I checked, and there is no advertising/antiviruses/clients whatsoever.

Hey Zan, is it worth trying to draw Meta Knight? XD It's a bit hard to draw him, at least to me.
I've… never played Kirby… but I say go for it! If you want to draw something, draw it, even if it's tough the first few times.
