Idea: war game

Here's the idea:
You know my AI project swordfighters? What I'm imagining is that you can direct a team of fighters with commands. The fighters themselves move independently, and depending on what is going on, they might ignore you. The game is to lead them to victory with your commands.
This could also work in multiplayer. 2-second ping times won't be much of a bother in a game that puts a delay between commands and action. And commanding might well work even with 2 second delays.

What will I need before this is reality?

Idea: war game

I'm starting work on the commanding system. So far, I'm writing code to draw off stats from mouse gestures, such as distances, directions, angles, and time.
I'll get a test project out soon.
