I still thought it would be a good idea to restart the project (not the art) from Scratch. Right now it's a befuddled mess of code that various people (including me) have worked on and I think we need clean slate in terms of programming. What is important is that everybody knows everything. We need to know exactly how the game will work and function before we work on it. We need artists to create hand-drawing of various parts including menus, towns, and routes and then remake them on the computer. (How real games are made)

Right now I have no desire to program on the project because it is an unorganized inconsistent mess, and I blame no one for that, we just need to all be on the same page.

I understand very well how the actual Pokemon games are made and our current coding is not in sync with that. I also think we should organize our art in a shared or public folder at box.com. Our code needs to be focused on three core ideals:

-Using the least amount of sprites as possible
-Using the least amount of scripts as possible
-Efficient manners of going about a task

The above I always try to incorporate into my Scratch projects because it helps for cleanness, fluidity, understandability, and professionalism,
Perfect- I love box.com.
As for the art, there is definitely some that needs to be redone as some either a. are too small or b. are too abstract to fit in with the rest of the sprites. There has to be a communal style to the sprites in general.

And thanks for the member list, SurfingPikachu!
You have to pay at lease $5 to use box.com with multiple people, so I can't do that.
Dadiwiki is active too, he just doesn't go to the forums that much. Just message him if we need some music. He is currently working on a black and white style version of the wild battle theme.

We need to figure out a way to advertise to other scratchers about this without spamming in their messages. We need more talented spriters to solve the lack of sprite similarity issues. Also, we could get many more capable users with this advertising thing! After all, isn't the reason we all joined that we wanted to make our vary own Pokemon game?

Oh- you're right. We could use dropbox…
And I'll add dadiwiki to the list. I'll start the new thread.

As for advertisements- that's risky and could damage our rep. One of the problems with the way we've run the collab is how selective it is- we have to be less selective to the point that people will want to join but we still only let in people with actual skill. It's a tricky balance but it's worked with Treasures Opened- the other main collab I'm in.

Right. Maybe we could add one or two new jobs to the list?
Current Jobs (I think XP):
-Spriter
-Artist
-Map Maker
-Idea Maker
-Music Maker
-Programmer
-Leader (sorta)
—————————-
Potential Jobs:
-Head of Visual Arts (Sounds cool , and is the head of the Map & sprite makers, as well as the artists, and their main duty is to review submissions for their quality)
-Story Developers: Assist in making every detail of plot/gym/random NPC stuff, goes with idea makers
-Music & SFX Assistance: There is a lot of music in this game, so the job of this person is to create the sound effects (a.k.a SFX) for the game, anywhere from Pokemon cries to pokeball throws, clicking, and spraying repels.
—————————–
Revised Jobs:
-Idea Maker: Works out how all of the NPCs fit into plot/game and creates ideas for Pokemon that the spriters can make and simple plots that the Story Developers can expand on
-Programmers: Assist in recreating the basic grid mechanics of the Pokemon games and the battle system, as well as inputting the maps from the map makers and sprites from the sprite makers, and also the music from the music makers. These guys are really important!
—————————————
Job Title Revisions:
-Spriter: Graphics Designer
—————————————
I hope this helps!

That's not true, I use Box with other people for free and we have a shared private folder…

Hey, there I am, surprised that you didn't forget me. I'm sad to see that this thing is near-dead, maybe you guys can save it, maybe not. I've honestly lost 90% of my interest in Spriting, maybe Pokemon in general, but it'll be fun watching you guys from here. Good luck.

But we can't just say that we want epic music and it appears, we have to put an honest effort into it. Dadiwiki is STILL working on the wild battle theme, imagine how long it would take for the champion battle theme to be made?

-tobor- I would greatly warn you about letting New Scratchers with like 10 forum posts into the collab. I hate to be all exclusive myself but just saying. It seems like those are the majority of people who always want to join for some reason (not sure why). If they're not new there's a better chance of them remaining active and having more experience with Scratch.

He's signing up to be a mapmaker and he's quite good at it- but yes, I was thinking about that. There's a reason I told him to wait until we all regrouped on the new forum.

Yes, while that is true…
I became a member when I was a new scratcher with 12 posts.
His maps are really good, and if he removed the NPCs and ho-oh he's perfect. We NEED this kind of skill here because not everyone has it. Maybe we should give him a chance? He said that he could not see his posts so he double posted.
