About this Class

Welcome to 6th Period Robotics & Programming!
In 6th period, we are expanding our robotics learning by joining Scratch (scratch.mit.edu) — an online, block-based coding platform created by MIT. While we’ve been focusing on coding our LEGO SPIKE robots, Scratch will help us strengthen our core programming skills in a fun, creative, and visual way.

Through Scratch, we will:
✅ Learn fundamental coding concepts like loops, conditionals, and variables.
✅ Design interactive games, animations, and simulations to practice logic and creativity.
✅ Connect programming to real-world problem-solving, preparing us for more advanced robot missions.
✅ Practice debugging and troubleshooting in a safe environment before applying these skills to robotics.

Scratch will supplement our robotics work by helping us understand how to plan algorithms, create sequences, and think computationally — all skills we need when programming real robots.

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

Code independently using block-based programming.
Design and share creative projects with peers.
Apply problem-solving skills from Scratch back to their LEGO robots.

What we're working on

Our 6th-period class is currently learning how to code using Scratch (scratch.mit.edu) to supplement our robotics programming skills.
