How did you start watching MLP?
One day, my sister just put Friendship Games on. It was the first MLP I've ever watched. A couple of times, I told her to put MLP on and pretended I was being forced to watch it with her. One day I just game up and started watching it by myself.

I was a 10 year old boy. I was going into 5th grade. I've always had sensitivity problems since kindergarden, i was suffering from them from 1-4. I usually got put in a room full of the special needs kids. These kids had similar problems like me. They were actually really nice kids. But, back on track, i didn't have much friends. I had one, but that was all. Most of the other boys i knew liked sports and nothing else. I hated sports and i still do.

On August 15th, 2011. My life changed from that day. We had just got home from Michigan, and back to school was flooding in. Around 6:00, i stumbled across the KYM page. for “My Little Pony:Friendship Is Magic” I thought it would be some abridged version of like the old girly cartoon that everyone thought MLP was at the time, with ponies having pastel-colored skin and the plots were girly, and there were rainbows everywhere.

When i figured it was a real series, i just decided to watch the first episode, and i loved it. When my older sister got home from Taekwondo that night, i went and told her. She made fun of me that whole night, and told my dad and mom. You see, my dad is the kind of dad who likes to joke around with me, and my mom is pretty okay with what we like. Of course, the income came out as you think it would.

My dad pokes fun at me, and my mom was okay with it, He told me to man up, but i wouldn't stop liking what i liked. So i got really sad that night, but still ponied on. I've always been a bit of a tomgirl throughout my life, even down to watching Hello Kitty with my sister when i was little. So, i wouldn't stop because my father wanted me to.

Around 10 days later, 5th grade came around the clock, and i also liked another kind of girly anime, which alot of people know what it is, but that's a story for another time. My good friend was in the class i was in. I was pretty much with a new cast of people. Alot of other kids in my past classes were in a new teachers class, so it was me and my friend.

I remember on that first day of fifth grade, i was feeling confident and nice, this was going to be a good school year.

And it was.

But there was a catch.

Around January, Minecraft hit the 5th grade like a hurricane. And, i started playing and enjoyed it. I recently got a brony tee, and i started wearing it around the school. It was a shirt with RD's mane in a black background that said “This Shirt Got 20% Cooler” and people didn't notice, also my dad started to not care about my MLP love.

Anyways, we all played on this one Minecraft server. My skin? It was my favorite pony Fluttershy.

Than it all started then.

My MLP teasing.

People constantly made fun of me, said jokes about how i'm a girl on the inside (hey, come on thats all that 5th grade boys tease about) but my teacher still looked out for me.

And then, all the jerky boys got expelled for like, 5 days.

So then in March, we started heavily talking about middle school. My friend had to go to another middle school.

So then i went in.

Me:“Hey dude, i found a really good TV show”
Friend “Really?”
Me:“My Little Pony Friendship is Magic”
Friend:“That sounds really stupid.”
Me:“Just watch it. You'll see.”

And well, then my friend was a brony. So i could make up these last 3 months with him until high school in 4 years.

And it was great. He was talking about it a ton the day after.

Then i graduated Elementary, in 5th and i remember on graduation leaving school early, going to Chick-Fil-A for lunch (there's one near my elementary. And at my middle, it's even closer) and going home and watching MLP videos from noon to 4, when my sister got home.

Then, 2 months after 6th grade started. I was shy and nervous. But then i met a friend.
This friend was not a brony, but he liked alot of things i did and came out of Miami. This person may have not liked ponies, but i was destined to survive middle school.

Apparantly, this kid was made fun of at his original school. And, he was happy when he moved, and we became friends. Apparently, recently i discovered at the 6th grade orientation, my friends mom stared at the other side of the room. She saw a blonde kid with a MLP shirt. She thought to herself, “Well, my son's new here, and he seems like a nice kid. After all, he stood up for himself. He's wearing a My Little Pony shirt”

And well, if you remember the old MLP topic, yes, the MLP hate came back.

But twice as worse.

Now, led by the evilish Derrick. Now this kid was the capital when it came to bullying. He spread rumors and such, and was a all-around jerk. I constantly came running to the Guidance office, but however, the guidance office people (which are EXTREMELY nice at my school) helped me out, and around March, the bullying stopped but now it's bits and pieces of bad stuff from there and onward.

However, when June came around the corner, my friend said he was also going to another school. I tried to get him a brony, but it just didn't work. So i sighed.

However, my sister at the time was a part of a Homestuck group, and she met a friend. We hung out, despite the fact their house was like a hour away from ours, and his brother and i became great friends. He liked everything i liked. I found another friend. However, while i was friends with the kid in 6th grade and the one back in 5th grade, we didn't hang out as much.

So, i'm shy and nervous for next year, but…

Thanks MLP.

Just thanks.

You've changed my life and done so much for me. You turned me from a depressed and lonely boy to someone with life and meaning. While i still have sensitivity problems, and there were some dark times, but you've still made me happy. So did that certain girly anime.

See you in 7th grade, where i'll continue the story.

But, for the time being, thanks MLP.
