Given that Scratch is designed for very young people to learn how to program (and that most people lie about their age anyway), I oppose this suggestion.

…
No. You want a section where we can pm and swear? Why would that help at all? I don't see how this is needed. Besides, people lie about their age all the time. And yes, I am a teenager.

Our hero, our hero who claims a warrior's heart, I tell you, I tell you the Dragonborn comes. With a voice weilding power of the ancient Nord Art, believe, believe the Dragonborn comes. It's an end to the evil of all Skyrim's foes. You'll know, You'll know the Dragonborn's come. For the darkness has passed and the legend yet grows, Beware, Beware, the Dragonborn comes.

This is not good. If you want to swere [sic] then make your own website.
Scratch is supposed to be kid friendly. If you are an 8 year old who set their age to 14 to keep their information private, what do you think will happen?

Scratch is targeted for kids 8 - 16. If we had a 13+ section, and there was swearing, people might not join at all, because of the inappropriate content.

How I see this message:
There should be a place where us cool people can chill, and talk about things that really aren't relevant to Scratch whatsoever, since everything officially related to Scratch is designed for 5-year-olds; swearing or talking about adult topics cannot possibly be relevant to anything on Scratch. Let's just revive the Misc section and scrap all the rules that the mods have been enforcing since 7-8 years ago for us cool dudes, because the mods aren't worth their salt. In fact, why don't we just make this section unmoderated? And encourage flaming? Why don't we put the posts people make there in the front page?

A story that will come true somewhere with this idea…
Say your on Scratch (you are over 13, so you are on that section) on your free time at school, and a teacher looks at your screen and asks you what you are doing.
You reply, “I'm on Scratch! It's a totaly awesome website to introduce kids to programming. Have a look at this project”.
You click it…
And a swear word pops up in the title
…the teacher is shocked and gets Scratch banned from the school system.
Scratch is for everyone. From 1, to 111. Every thing MUST be polite and use good language.

I'm a mature teenager and I disagree 110%. Scratch is a place to respect others and promote morality; allowing swearing is absolutely unacceptable, no one in the right mind should swear at all; PMing is horrendous, if not far worse than swearing, because it makes bullying so much easier and makes moderation that much harder. And what of the community? I can't even begin to fathom the horrors.

Um… That's taking it a ———————————–bit to far. He/She did not swear in their idea. They just said that the 13+ section should allow people to swear.
