How about having customizable variables, so instead of having the Generic Orange, a person could change it to purple or something and instead of it
being oval-ish there would be a variety of different shapes and sizes to choose from!

You can change the color of all the blocks in one group. To do this, shift-click edit menu and push edit block colors. Sadly, changes are only temporary.

You can use, for unshared projects, the Edit Block Colors feature.

Oh. I didn't know that.
In any case, they aren't permanent.
Also, they are mainly used to create blocks for the forum (like the custom reporter block I have in my signature)

I support changing colors but not the shapes. There's not really a need to change the shape of the variable to a square, triangle, or something like that.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Also, changing the shape might make the variable look like strictly a string / boolean / something and be confusing.
UNLESS they changed it so variables contained different data types (which I feel is a bad idea)
