(I was thinking of starting it with a post that gives a quick intro to the concept, with links to these topics, and then an overview of a couple of the more obvious ways you'd think it could be implemented - e.g. put them on the Stage - and the potential issues that arise from such implementations.)

This is simple good coding practice to learn.
As well as much easier to maintain as you find multiple simple sprites that were cut/pasted could use improvement in implementation…
or a change of behavior is desired.

Support. I don't use custom blocks too often, but when I do, I generally want them for all sprites, and its annoying having to remake them each time
