(PHP and JAVASCRIPT) - Programmers needed for tbg's site.

Good morning to you, kind sir, for at least glancing at this topic. I appreciate it. What would be even more useful if you'd consider reading it to the end, or even leaving a reply afterwards. (Or now, if you don't want to read the rest…)
So, you probably have a few questions as to what this is about. I'll give you some questions and there answers - and I'll respond to them accordingly.

What is this about?

Okay! I would like to create an interesting tbg site, that runs a forum-like software on it. It would be for a variety of users from many different backgrounds and websites to play high-quality and easily text based games.

Why don't you do it yourself?

To be perfectly honest, I can't. While I could make a basic site that could work, it wouldn't be secure, wouldn't be high-quality and I don't believe a product should be done half-halfheartedly, which if I did it, it probably would be.

Do I get anything out of it?

Not a lot - You probably won't be paid. It's volunteer work. However, you could gain the experience of working with others on a site, experience in general for developing websites and you'll be credited for your hard work.

So… What features do you want on it?
It definitely needs a secure account system. This includes anti-spam measures. Such a measure includes that a new account wouldn't be able to host a game until he has made 5 - 10 posts, depending on what others agree upon. That's my personal belief. Other than the anti-spam measures features should include; A per-thread ‘character name and info’, which is chosen upon registration to the game. (People can't have the same name.), and the game host will know who signed up as who. They can choose to disable this feature when starting the game. An account picture. A safe private messaging system with reporting. You guys can suggest features if you like. A simple to use admin panel.

What about the staff of the site?
The site admins will be those who agree to create the site and want to be admins, otherwise they will be known as site creators. Other site admins will be invited by me to administrate the site - only people I trust. There will also be a community moderator program in place until a decision is made if it's a poor idea.

So that's it. What do you guys think so far? Is anyone interested in working on this site?
'
Thanks, S4.

Oooh, exciting! I'd love to help out. (I can write anything you want me to.)

Also, is the code gonna be hosted? Bitbucket lets you have private repos for free (can't have more than 5 devs though), and I can't use GitHub because I use my account there for non-Scratch things.

Ahh… I was just going to use gwiddle as a host.

I'll check Bitbucket out, then. Thanks for volunteering!

Well yeah, Gwiddle's fine; I don't mean hosting the actual forum, I mean hosting the source code for developing. Then we can just update the Gwiddle site with the latest release from the repo

So yeah, what shall I do?

Yeah, I think the account system should be done first - unless you believe there should be something done before that?

That's a good idea - I'll get to it.

heheh it's a bit complicated, yeah; for now, just create both a personal account and a 5 team account, then add both of us to the team (details here). My username is nwhi btw.

Current Tasks:
- Create an account system (nwhi)
- Design a website theme (ssss)

Currently that's all that I think needs to go on, right?

What do yo need JS for mostly? I am guessing you're using MySQL so no PHP helping from me.

What do people think about?

The sides are ‘sidebars’ which allow for clocks and bookmarks. (The clocks are for different time-zones.) Those would be done in javascript.

RPG's are Role Playing games, Mafia games are where there are two sides and the sides have to try and win against each other (I can't explain properly.)

Basic is games such as ‘My wish is ruined’. I'd like for someone to rename this section, and perhaps the Mafia part too.

What do people think so far, however?

This is a mockup, btw.

I really like it D

I finished the login system btw - didn't do email verification yet, should I do it now?

Can we do it so email verification is needed for some things, but not for others? That would probably be decent in my eyes.

Yeah. So, who's coding the site's actual theme? You?

Well, I could. I'll look into it.

Looks cool! The time zone clocks are a cool idea too, I might add them to tbgs.tk later lol.

Stealing my ideas are you

Well, I looked into theming the site myself and I did not do so well - I was unable to make the two sidebars seem nice and my eye for color is poor. If someone would like to do that for us, I'd highly appreciate that.
