Piano!!
I don't know if this fits here or not, but I am learning to play the piano. At the humble age of 15. My sister has been taking lessons for years so I am looking at her old books.
I have played drums for years so I have a general understanding of music, but I want to learn about chords and other stuff. Maybe I should take a music theory class.
I can get through a few very simple songs but I cannot comfortably sightread yet. I want to play some piano covers of electronic music bu t that is probably a few years away before I have that skill.
Any tips?
Also, discuss piano here.

It's a good instrument to learn. My only tip would be to maintain a regular practice schedule. I would practice right before my lessons and that screwed me over. I just picked it up again earlier. I am better at the violin at this point, but I still have some piano skills in me.

I took piano for about 5 years, I got bored with it when I was about 11 (and also my teacher was getting really old and wanted to stop teaching anyway).
I now feel like trying (and mostly failing) to play Dream Theater on the piano…

Well, I've played for just about a year now and I can play miscellaneous song that aren't really noteworthy plus Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata, and Clair de Lune. Right I'm learning to play Fantaisie-Impromptu…my teacher doesn't know yet, I decided to on a whim a few hours ago xD first 6 measures done.

Instead of editing, I shall utilize my progress as a disguised bump, even though this is technically still on page 1 xD
The Fantaisie is doing really well! I can do the first 6 measures fast and fluently now, I'm practicing the scale that stretches the next 2 measures w/o the left hand. According to BachScholar it's a good idea for me to start doing the Tausig excersize.

I'm learning Moonlight Sonata. I learned Fur Elise a while ago and memorized it but I've forgotten most of it inb4 mythbusteranimator

Perhaps it's because I learned Fur Elise earlier than I did Moonlight, with quite a few pieces in between. I'd already done quite a bit when I did Fur Elise though. I'll just say that if you've got Fur Elise down, you have the skill to do Moonlight…you make me feel smart and not-so-smart at the same time–Moonlight Sonata's been harder xDYay! …I learned Fur Elise before I learned Moonlight Sonata with many pieces in between also xD
(I'm not joking around or anything, this is actually true!)

Moonlight took me about 2 months to do in total By “easy” I mean relative to Clair de Lune, which took me 6 months.

na Maybe I should take a music theory class.
you're a drummer? do you take band? if you take band, focus more on mallet instruments and that will help you a lot. you're in high school, right? ask a friend or instructor who's good at playing mallets to teach you greenscales in order. the 2nd half of each scale is the 1st half of the next scale in the circle of fifths

I love playing the piano. In Ireland (where I live) I am on grade 2 in my exams. If I want to play cool songs on the piano, I go onto YouTube and watch the piano tutorials. With dedication, I have finally cracked the Simpsons. A tip is start with the right hand, then the left, and then together. And if you keep failing a song you did ages ago, take it apart! It always works for me, and I'm 12!

My mum's been teaching me piano for a few years; now I'm bored of the usual exercises, so my mum helps me with some songs that I like; for example part of Per Elisa (Beethoven), or One man's dream (Yanni), or Always with me (forgot who's the author).
But I create and compose my own songs, too! I even made a project, but it needs a LOT of updating.

I managed to play and memorize a simpler version of Creator by Lena Raine by playing it entirely by ear
I played it for my piano teacher and I got her permission to play it for my upcoming piano recital
