Inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, my favorite movie ever.
The year is 3001. Humanity is spread throughout the galaxy. Most people live in groups of about 10 - 50 that spend their days mining asteroids and building ships. There are a few hundred capital colonies where billions of humans live. Most people are so few and far between that there is barely any contact between each other. When groups do come in contact with each other, it's not often peaceful. Of course that kind of thing can seem like just a distraction, when you're occupied 24-7 by the endless thrill of trying to survive in space.
Probably most importantly, keep it realistic. There's no sound in space, no explosions, guns affect the person using them as much as they affect bullets, etc. Ships have fuel, and you need air and food, so they should always be in the back of characters' minds. No one is immune to the perils of space.
If your space suit rips, or your ship runs out of fuel, you are probably going to die. Don't have characters escape these situations too often.
There can be alien creatures, but don't have like alien ships or civilizations. That's not what this RPG is about. Also, no playing as aliens.
There is genetic modification in this universe, but it's only slight. No one has special powers, or some crazy feature like green skin.
Your character may be a robot or an AI.
Only the person who's owns the character can declare that character dead.
Please be faithful to the bio template.
Use common sense in threads. And PLEASE don't play the "introvert" or the "character is crazy" game. I don't think anyone likes to be the entire life of the chain.
Ship types (Just general ideas, your ships don't have to comply to them):
Capital ship- Large ship that is self sufficient and can carry the rest of the fleet. Usually has weapons
Carrier- Similar to Capital ship, but isn't self sufficient.
Frigate- Self sufficient ship that's medium sized and does not carry other ships.
Battleship- Self sufficient war ship.
Galley- Warship that isn't self sufficient.
Shuttle- Airplane sized ship that can only take short trips before returning to a Carrier or Capital ship.
Fighter- Shuttle with weapons.
Pod- One man craft that can only travel for about an hour and has extremely limited speed. Usually used for ship repair.
Space Station- Extremely large self sufficient craft that can carry other ships, but has no warp drive or propulsion method. (Often orbits or is attached to asteroids)
