1.) Get enough followers(100, minimum) to send this to the Scratch Team
2.) Get the Scratch Team to change their filtering policy
Managers, feel free to add supporters, goals, and anything relevant as you please. I'll tell you if and when it is removed and why.
The Scratch Team says their age-range is 8-16 years old. That goes from elementary school to high school. But the filter seems to only cater to the younger children. Saying anything remotely "rude", "offensive", or "vulgar"(I'm pretty sure I got muted for saying adult-terry, but take out the dash and the r because if I say it, this studio will likely be deleted) And here's the bigger issue: when an account gets muted, the owner isn't told WHY. Sure, sometimes you might get a message telling you to be more respectful and "here's the post leading up to this message" but muting happens more often. How can we expected to fix our behavior if we don't know what we did wrong? What if your mom sent you to your room with no explanation and took away something you liked and only tells you why after you've accidentally done it a few times? It's just as stupid in either situation.
Secondly, the filter is good at recognizing "disrespectful words" but not so good at tones. I tried to make a post saying MY ART was bad and apparently it was "rude" But somehow saying my art was TRASH could get through, because those two sentences don't mean the same thing and couldn't be equally rude if used on someone else. Time for a new filter, Scratch. It is possible to have a filter that recognizes tone and context, Grammarly has one.
Thirdly, once again on the 8-16 age range. If this site is also MEANT AND TARGETED at high schoolers, it's not doing it well. Kids in middle/high school use bad words. They are into more mature themes(both MATURE-MATURE, romance themes and just older, not for little kids themes), we can't function as well under a filter and site that caters to young children's settings. The filter is only meant for young children. My pfp got removed because it said "the other 30% of me wants2die" That did not mean I was promoting harmful actions. It was clearly a JOKE. So, Scratch Team, how is that picture innapropriate again?
Please leave any experiences with the Scratch Team's filter or policies. They will be very helpful in proving our case.
The Changes We Want(Any one or more from the list):
1.) An updated filter with both age-groups interests in mind. Not everything has to be a freaking sunny utopia. Give us some creative verbal liberties.
2.) A tagging system for older kids to mark their projects and studios with if they want a certain age group out. Like what Deviantart has. If you're account says you're younger than the tag on a studio/project, you can't view it. And the age can't be changed(it will still update yearly)
3.) When a user gets muted, tell them what word(s), or post(s) got them muted in the first place so they know what they did wrong. I've been muted several times and I don't know why!!! Someone may think something they say is totally okay and not know, regardless of whether it is okay or not.
4.) A block option, for reasons that really don't need to be explained.
Follow the studio and/or leave a comment to show your support!! Your name will be added to the list of "signatures" to be sent to the Scratch Team once we have enough support to have some real force!
