⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Welcome to the
#QOTM: Have you ever witnessed a situation of harassment? How did you react?
Let us know in the comments! :)
▶︎ What is bullying or harassment?
Harassment is a series of repeated hostile acts designed to psychologically weaken the person who is the victim. This type of behavior can be habitual and involve social and physical status.
This may include moral harassment, such as insults or threats, or physical attacks on one or more individuals who are sometimes discriminated against on the grounds of their skin color, religion, gender, sexual orientation or other differences such as physical or mental abilities.
It can happen to anyone: at school, at work, on social networks... in short, anywhere.
▶︎ How to react?
If you are a victim, you absolutely must talk to people you trust. If you think it won't change anything or make things worse, it's just the opposite! Above all, do not let the harasser destabilize you, but keep your self-confidence. If the aggressor multiplies attacks, do not react without thinking... But remember that if you do not talk about it, it will never stop and it could get worse. Silence is the worst solution!
If you are a witness, do not hesitate to go calmly to the victim, to help him/her express herself, to listen to him/her and to take him/her seriously. But above all, without panicking him/her, so as not to add fear to fear. The child victim is humiliated and made to feel guilty for not having been able to defend himself/herself: you must start by congratulating him/her for confiding in you.
▶︎ Try These!
• If you are a victim because you are a girl, check out the studio "#Feminism": https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/4116090/
• If you are a victim because of your sexual orientation, check out the studio "♥️ LGBTQ+ ♥️": https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/5842709/

▶︎ What can I do here?
You too, on Scratch, you can help people who are witnesses to harassment. For example, by sharing a project telling the story of a harassed person who, encouraged by those around him/her, talks about it, etc. Be original and don't forget to stay within the theme ;) When you are finished, send us the link in the comments!
Otherwise, spread the hashtag #StopBullying around Scratch! :)
