Dracovae are small, around the length of someone's arm, with a snake-like body, two stubby forelegs with class designer for clinging onto the stalactite and stalagmites they cling to.
They are dangerous in a colony, even if they are small. Two full grown Dracovae could kill a baby Dragadile, a ferocious, deadly (Even as a baby) much larger relative of the crocadile.
They mark their stalactites/stalagmites using a coloured spot all female and juvenile Dracovae have on their foreheads, which produces a chemical that can stain surfaces and seep into certain things, making veins of colour. Females also mark their offspring, which the males take no part in raising, to insure they can identify them.
Their diet consists of: Any meat they can find, fish, eggs, even eggs of their own species if their starving.
These animals are dangerous, and while a few can be tamed enough for you to safely walk among them, you should always be wary.
The sanctuary has one flock they hope to increase in size.
Note that the Dracovae seem to have two names: Redei for example, is called Redei and then Red-Mother-To-Be. The second names are the ones the Dracovae refer to themselves as, in honour of their role, their strong suit, or to belittle and point out their weakness. Here is a list of meanings for certain names:
Most Dracovae are named after their colours or, if female, their colour spots, so usually colours are the first or second part of their name, and if not, then their patterns of a title they earned.
Little-___ refers to the fact the Dracovae in question is either a juvenile or a newborn, with the second part usually being the colour their mother marks them with, such as Little-Blue. Once they grow older, the spot vanishes and they either get a new colour, thus changing the name to, say, Yellow, or never appearing again. Females always have spots, but it's 50/50 with males.
___ Once the newborn grows up, it loses the name 'Little' and is either left nameless for a while, or if they have a colour spot, they are named the colour of it with no other title.
___-Mother Refers to the Dracovae being a mother, and ___-Mother-To-Be refers to them either A. Taking interest in a potential mate. Or B. Expecting. ___-Was-Mother means they no longer have any young because they grew, or because their young died.
Small-Quick-Feather-Kill refers to the fact he is excellent at catching birds, referred to as feathers. Other names have many meanings depending on how that Dracovae thinking of them views them, or what it's name was from. Example: Strange-Striped-Male could be an insult, a complement, or an observation depending on the Dracovae.
