THE SCRATCH CONSERVATION CHALLENGE
------------------------------♡♡♡♡♡♡
Hello everyone and welcome to the Scratch Conservation Challenge Studio!
------------------------------♡♡♡♡♡♡
"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference
you
would like
to
make." - Jane Goodall
------------------------------♡♡♡♡♡♡
And this studio was founded for just that reason.
Every weekend for the next 5 weeks, starting August 25th of 2018, a new Conservation Challenge Activity will be posted here, in the studio description.
------------------------------♡♡♡♡♡♡
If we all pitch in, we CAN make a difference.
#conservationchallenge

Feel free to add all of your go-green projects. Or make a project showing what you did for the Challenge!
You can also leave a conservation
quote in the comments and it will be added to the studio description.
Don't forget to suggest what the next Conservation Challenge should be! We'd love to hear your ideas!

Conservation Challenge #1: Make Wildflower Seed Bombs!
(See resource below for instructions.)
Conservation Challenge #2: Shoe-box Solar Oven!
(See resource below for instructions.)
Conservation Challenge #3: DIY Non-toxic Green Cleaner!
(See resource below for instructions.)
Conservation Challenge #4: Hummingbird Feeder!
Attract hummingbirds to your garden by making this simple feeder.
You'll Need:
-♡ 1-liter plastic soda bottle, label removed, with a screw-on cap
-♡ Drill and drill bits
-♡ Plastic cup
-♡ Hot glue gun and glue stick
-♡ Eye hook
-♡ Red plastic flowers (hummingbirds are attracted by the color red.)
For Hummingbird Nectar:
-♡ 1 cup plain white sugar
-♡ 4 cups water
Instructions:
-♡ With an adult's help, drill several holes in the bottle cap and remove the center of the cap.
-♡ Hot-glue the bottle cap upside-down on the inside bottom of the plastic cup. Make sure the bottle cap is slightly below the rim of the plastic cup. (If this sounds confusing, see the video link in the resources below.)
-♡ With an adult's help, drill a hole in the bottom of the soda bottle and
attach an eye hook for hanging.
-♡ Glue the red plastic flowers to the edge of the cup, leaving room for the hummingbird's beak.
-♡ Make the nectar. Combine the 1 cup plain white sugar with the 4 cups water and boil the mixture. Stir carefully until the sugar is dissolved, then let the nectar cool.
-♡ Fill the soda bottle with the nectar. Screw the soda bottle onto the bottle cap and hang your new hummingbird feeder!
