I stroll through the alleyway in my head
The infinite abysm beckons to me
Lightless. Tenebrous. Unlit.
I look at the cage I have built
Inside, there are pictures of me, rent in half
Tattered. Severed. Ruptured.
There is one picture left unbroken
I raise my hand to destroy it
Bitterness. Hatred. Disdain.
I strike the image
Blood streams down my hand
Agony. Torment. Misery.
The image remains, despite imperfect
For there is yet a hope within me
Passion. Thirst. Longing.
A hope that removes me from this cage
And brings me back into the sunshine
Surreal. Poignant. Bliss.
I am currently
Going to die
The darkness is closing in....
The cage is being built up....
You can't break it down.
But only you.
You are the only one that can
Of the Darkness.
Have the power
To break free
of this cage.
are the one
who built it.
There is nothing
I can do
Stand in front of you with open arms and be ready to accept you when you break free of the darkness.
I am here.
Depression is being lonely in a room full of people
Depression is being constantly tired but never able to sleep
Depression is longing to be with others yet not being able to cope with company
Depression makes you lose your appetite or eat yourself fat
Depression is smiling to hide the pain inside
Depression is when the soul dies but the body keeps on living
Depression is forgetting who you used to be
Depression is not knowing if you could survive without it
Depression is being sad when nothing is wrong
Depression is not caring whether you live or die
Depression is having no interest in the things you used to love
Depression is lying awake for hours in bed at night contemplating the best way to kill yourself only to realize that you can’t be bothered.
— Ricky Baker
"That very deadened feeling, which is so very different from feeling sad. Sad hurts but it’s a healthy feeling. It is a necessary thing to feel. Depression is very different." - J.K. Rowling
"Fear will kill more dreams than failure ever will."
"Even when the dark comes crashing through, when you need a friend to carry you, and when you're broken on the ground, you will be found." -- Dear Evan Hansen
"We all have our flaws, and we need to accept them."
"Just leave me alone, please."
"There is freedom for you, on the breezes of the sky. And you ask, 'What if I fall?' Oh but my darling, what if you fly?"
A sort of poem:
I wanted to write down exactly what I felt
But somehow the paper stayed empty
And I could not have described it any better.
We cling to the things that make us bleed
Because we'd rather
Feel the pain
In the familiar
Than the peace
In the unknown."
"The way you glow through my blinds in the morning
It makes me feel like you missed me.
Kissing my forehead to help me out of bed.
Making me rub the sleepy from my eyes.
Are you asking me to come out and play?
Are you trusting me to wish away a rainy day?
I look above. The sky is blue.
It's a secret, but I trust you too.
If it wasn't for you, I could sleep forever.
But I'm not mad.
I want breakfast."
"When you're broken, someone will always be there to pull you back together"
Even when it feels like you have the weight of the sky on your shoulders, somebody will always come around to help you bear the weight. You're never alone
“I feel like I’m in the darkness, calling God desperately for help with loud wind whipping through my hair and drowning my voice out so that He doesn’t hear me cry for help escaping my own mind...” - @orchestra_violinist
