"Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends
These cunning folk use any means
to achieve their ends"
- The Sorting Hat, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Welcome to Slytherin! You know what it means if you're here? You're part of the house that's really all of the houses combined! We are intelligent, loyal to those who we are friends with and of course we are not afraid to speak our minds but we actually think about what we're getting ourselves into first! Our ambition should help us set a goal to get first place in the house cup! Make sure to go to all of your lessons!
Now you may ask “Why Slytherin? They have a bad reputation!” and to that I say “You are who you want to be! Your blood doesn't make you evil just your choices”. You may still be thrown off by this so we'll have a Slytherin of the week! This person will be someone that was in Slytherin that was inspirational and showed us all what it actually means to be one!
This week's Slytherin is: Andromeda Black
About her: Andromeda Black was the sister of Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy, and the mother of Nymphadora Tonks. Even after being sorted into Slytherin, her choices proved she was different from her sisters. She married a Muggle-born wizard named Ted Tonks, who was a man of “impure” blood. Andromeda was immediately disowned as a blood traitor and from then on, she never saw her sisters again. Bellatrix assured Voldemort this fact saying she and Narcissa “never set eyes on our sister since she married the Mudblood.”
Andromeda still bore the burden of having a very similar resemblance to her older sister Bellatrix. In fact, Harry mistook Andromeda for Bellatrix, the first time he met her. The resemblance was so profound, he actually started to draw his wand, much to her offense. Although Andromeda was more governed by kindness than her sisters, she was the one left with the most scars. Andromeda lost almost everything in the Second Wizarding War: her husband was killed, her own sister, Bellatrix, murdered her daughter, and it was left up to Andromeda to raise her grandson Teddy, almost the only direct family she had left, showing a true strength and bravery that her sisters did not. She showed bravery by risking everything for love and to help her family.
We'll also have a HPQOTD! This will be a quote from any of the books! The quote will be changed every day! Today's quote is:
“What's life without a few dragons?” ~ Ron Weasley, The Goblet of Fire
Weekly activities: These will not count for points but they are fun to do. There will be 1-2 activities per week. Here are the activites for this
- Interview your favorite HP character as if you were the infamous Daily Prophet reporter, Rita Skeeter. (if your fave character WAS Rita, get a new fave character)
- Write a parody of a song to tell about your fave HP book (can be on of the main 7 or it could be The Cursed Child, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, etc.)
- Write about your least favourite character but project them as a nice person. Do the same for your favourite character but project them as a bad person.
