"You've never read a book like this, but fairytales should really be updated."
-Shrek (Shrek The Musical)
It seems as if every fairy tale is the same. If there is a princess, she gets saved by a price. If there's a bad guy, they always get defeated. The main character always lives, they all have a happy ending. Real life is not like that. Our great great great grandparents thought that was how the world would work forever, but it wasn't until the princess broke out of the tower herself, and the Prince fell in love with a knight that things finally began to change.
This is a medieval/fantasy universe where lgbt+, feminism, etc. are as mainstream as they are nowadays. I wanted to play with different kinds of fairytales and it's more fun while rpging. The rules are pretty open. You can add magic if you want to, just nothing overpowered. When you're planning to start a chain talk to the other person about a starting point, like if they are both royalty maybe one has a sibling getting married and the other royal family came to attend. Obviously, your character doesn't have to be royalty, it just makes things more interesting in my opinion. One last thing, don't judge me too harshly for the Shrek quote, I'm a huge theatre geek and the musical has a special place in my heart.
