A black wolf, male, sat on the edge of a cliff with a ginger and yellow she-wolf. As they watched the Sun set, he sighed. "Dawn, I must leave." "But Dusk... you must be able to stay a bit longer." Dawn looked at the black wolf. "It is almost nighttime. I need to go home." "Well... I guess I cannot stop you." The two stood up and nuzzled each other. "Come back by sunrise... okay?" "I cannot make any promises, Dawn." Dusk said and he walked away, leaving the she-wolf alone.

The she-wolf grew old. She knew her mate was never coming back. Before she died she had four pups, Spring, Summer, Winter, and Autumn. The pups never got to see their mother as she had died and faded away before they opened their eyes. Before she died, she asked one of her friends, Sunset, to take care of them for her. "They are our future. The only way we will survive is with them."
