Ester snarled at her father. She was angry at him.
No matter what planet she went to he always found her.
"Father, I don't want to go home. I told you I was done with home." Ester whined. She stomped her foot.
"You are coming home, Ester. NOW." Her father snapped, his voice sharp enough to cut a watermelon in half.
Ester rolled her eyes. Eventually she gave up and leapt into the sky.
As Chagrine was crawling away, he glanced back and caught a glimpse of something.
On the underside of Ester's wings was a black symbol. But she was too far away for him to tell exactly what the symbol looked like. So he kept crawling away.
Ester was almost out of the atmosphere when her father caught up.
"You are fast, Ester. Faster than most of our kind." Her father, called Scorn said.
His name suited him. He hated everything and everyone.
"Leave me alone." Ester turned up her snout at him.
"I do not like you running away from me all the time. You are all I have since your mother died." Scorn said.
"You don't want me for me. You want me because I have something that could get you rich beyond your wildest dreams. You are using me for my power." Ester hissed.
"Ester, you are the last beautiful thing in my life. I hate the thought of some young dragon coming and becoming your mate and taking you away from me." Scorn tried.
"Why is that? Because your daughter who will get you rich was taken? I don't think so." Ester snorted.
They arrived at the black hole they called home in just a few minutes, as they were flying at supersonic speed.
The black hole was evi looking. It looked as though a dark, snarling hole had been ripped into the world of stars, planets, and nebulas and was sucking everything up.
The sound of smashing, grinding, and destruction soon reached Ester's ears.
But amongst the noise, there were dragon voices. Hundreds of Black Hoke dragons populated this little piece of horror.
Ester wanted to scream. She wanted to be away from this horrible place. And yet here she was. Again.
Black Hole dragons have the strange ability to survive the insane chaos and pressure of a black hole. And they are so strong they can fight the suction without growing tired.
Ester wanted to be a sea dragon like Chagrine. He was so lucky.
He was also quite handsome- uh, smart.
Ester found a shard of destroyed star to land on. She quickly folded her wings before somebody else saw the symbol.
"Why do you always hide your wings?" Scorn asked.
"Because I hate myself and my gift now go away." Ester snapped.
Scorn shrugged helplessly and flew into the black hole, leaving Ester to stand there and gather her thoughts.
Scorn came back though to announce it was time to sleep. He actually decided to fall asleep on the same rock just to make sure she didn't run away.
But he wasn't doing a good job, because as soon as Ester was sure he was asleep she climbed over him and flew away.
She went straight back to earth. Where Chagrine was.
She found him in the woods, trying to chase down a pack of wolves,
"Hey!" She called.
He looked up at her, and she flashed him a big, cheeky grin,
"Need some help?" Ester asked. "Yes." Chagrine admitted.
Ester quickly landed and folded her wings. Hopefully Chagrine didn't see the symbol.
"Why do you always keep your wings folded?" Chagrine asked.
"Hood that thought." Ester chased down the wolves and killed one of them. She dragged the body back to Chagrine.
"Its none of your business why I keep my wings open or closed. You ask too many questions." Ester scolded.
"I'm sorry. It's just, yesterday I saw a symbol on the underside of them, but you were too far away for me to make out what the symbol was." Chagrine said.
"Well, you were never supposed to see that so forget about it." Ester shrugged.
"What kind of dragon are you? You breathe these sharp black things along with a black mist. What is that about?" Chagrine tried.
"I'm a Black Hole dragon. We live in black holes and breathe the shards and mist of a black hole." Ester replied.
"But Black Hole dragons don't have symbols under their wings. No dragon tribe has that." Chagrine said.
"Let's go eat this." Ester changed the subject.
Chagrine felt like the symbol was of vast importance.
"Look, Chagrine. Some dragons, not just my family, are looking for me because of that symbol. They want me for my power. So I am always on the run. End of story." Ester admitted.
Chagrine was still confused. Who would want to hurt Ester, and why?
