For as long as anyone alive can remember, the entire world, known as Nyx, has been shrouded in eternal night. The only sources of light are the dim glow of the moon, the light some creatures create, and the aura of fire.
A few villages have managed to survive out in the open, huddling together to protect themselves from the mysterious creatures that shy away from the light, vampires, ghosts, Undead, twisted forms of creatures. However, the most well-known civilization is the underground city of Aevisus, illuminated by lanterns that the denizens take precautions to ensure they will not go out.
Most humans are content to stay where they were born, but some choose to venture out into the darkness and risk their lives, whatever their reasons.
Regardless of who you are, remember, the light is the only thing that will keep you alive...or human.
Beware the shadows.
(will be updated through RP's)
Many creatures inhabit Nyx, some of which are not even named yet. Some of the more well-known include;
Humans: Basically humans in real life, but they don't require sunlight. They can use types of magic, but nothing too drastic.
Vampires: Vampires can see in the darkness, and must drink human blood to survive. They can choose whether or not they turn a human or Nyx-Born into a vampire, they cannot turn other creatures.
Werewolves: They appear human, but can turn into a wolf or hybrid creature at will. They crave human hearts.
Carrions: Similar to "normal" animals, but are skeletal, "corrupted" versions of the animal. For example, a raven might have a skull for a head, tattered feathers, and bony features. A Carrion will is referred to as the animal it resembles, examples include "Carrion Raven", "Carrion Wolf", etc.
The Nyx-Born: Humans who have adapted to the dark environment of Nyx, living in remote communities far away from normal humans. These villages often go undiscovered because they don't require light sources. They generally have pale skin and white hair. Some are blind and survive using a sense similar to echolocation, while others have adapted to see in the darkness. They tend to age more slowly than normal humans.
Undead: Creatures such as zombies and skeletons.
The moon in Nyx goes through phases as it does in the real world. Physics behave similarly too, besides magic and Supernatural occurrences (and the fact that there's no sunlight). Plants do not need sunlight to grow, however, and are often "corrupted" as well, like Carrions.
(this section is currently pretty ambiguous because I want people to have creative freedom in their RP's. If you're having trouble in an RP, basically just imagine our world if everything suddenly turned goth xD)
-No Mary/Marty Sues.
-Follow basic roleplaying etiquette.
-Read the lore section, please.
-Violence and romance in RP's are allowed, but keep it PG-13 or lower, follow the Scratch Guidelines.
-Managers may accept bios. Please do not roleplay until your character has been accepted.
-If you want to roleplay as a non-human, you may create your own species, but try to make their theme dark/scary. No unicorns dancing on rainbows or fire elementals, etc. Also, please roleplay as a humanoid creature, don't create a character that's a Carrion, for the sake of the RP.
-This is set in the Middle Ages, no modern technology or similar.(Social beliefs are similar to modern day however, ex: gender equality)
-Include your favorite food in your bio somewhere if you've read this far, but try to disguise it if possible. This isn't required, but you can include it to show that you've read the rules.
