Chapter 5
(Give me the bloody recorder.)
He’s a rubbish storyteller, but no worries; now you have me.
↬ ↫
“God,” I sighed. “What’s the point?”
I was sitting in my room. It was quite plush, with a large bed, green walls, green carpet that was soft as grass, and cherry wood ceiling. In one corner, there was a library with all sorts of books. In another, there was my bed and nightstand. A window looking out into the forest took up most of the left wall, and the corners on either side had plants growing in them.
Me, being a dirty pig, had left food packages and other sorts of rubbish on the floor. I got up from the bed and started cleaning up for inspection.
Inspection was a thing that Alex, our camp counselor, did once every month. We had to clean our rooms to look spotless. Eli was always the worst one. His room looked like a fire had gone through it. (though I’m pretty sure that’s not far from the truth) Anyway, whoever won got showers first.
But, what I was really nervous about were the two new people that just came: Peter and Susan.
They seemed different from the rest - more like someone…
I probably shouldn’t tell you that. (Peter said I should. [Well tough].)
Well, when I stepped out of my room, I saw that Eli was coming down the hallway. He stopped, then said it was time for dinner.
“I’ll be down.”
He then turned and ran back down the carpeted strip and down the stairs. I watched as his red hair and broad frame disappeared behind the stairs.
I decided to check on the new people before coming down for my meal.
I approached the yellow-orange door of Susan’s new room, and knocked.
“You doing okay in there?”
“Yeah, thanks.” She replied.
Then I went down the hallway to the blue door, and said the same thing.
“Not now.” came Peter’s voice.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. There was silence on the other end. “Can I come in? Say nothing if you want me to come in.” Nothing again. I opened the door and peeked inside.
He was sitting on his bed. I noticed that he had changed. He had blue jeans on, a blue jacket, and a white undershirt that hugged his chest so well, I thought he was showing off. Probably not. His tan face had a subtle frown, and his blue eyes had a tint of sadness in them.
“Mmm..” Great English skills. I scolded myself. I tried again. “Do you need anything?” I asked after a moment.
“No,” he responded. Then he sighed. “Sorry, I’m just thinking. I’ll be down for dinner in a little bit.”
“‘Kay.” I closed the door and left.
I pulled out the little book that Alex had gave me out of my pocket and turned to page 2-3.
The emerald is usually worn by a female. It is in the form of an earing. If it is left on the ground, it might glow.
Weapon: Dagger
Animal: Deer
Power: Life
Secondary Power: Happiness
I turned the page.
To summon weapon, speak ‘Sting’ in an intense tone.
To summon animal, speak ‘Cervidae’ in an insistent tone.
To summon power, think ‘earth.’ For a learner, make sure you are near the ground.
To summon secondary power, think of happy things.
As you become a master, you will be able to summon these without thinking/speaking the words. You will only need to concentrate.
I summoned Cervidae, as I had practiced a lot.
“There’s some food in my room. You should go eat.” I instructed.
“Thanks! I’m starvin’!” Then he nudged me lovingly and ran off.
Dinner time. I thought.
