~ We're not taking instructor (manager) requests anymore because we have an excessive amount already. But we'll take more when we reach 25 students.
~ We hit 30 lessons! Keep it up, instructors!
Welcome to Welcome Camp! This is a camp for New Scratchers to get ready for Scratch, started by @CrazyNimbus.
There are instructors, helpers and campers in this studio. Instructors prepare lessons for campers, helpers help the people, and campers complete the lessons. By completing the lessons, campers explore and learn Scratch even more!
If you're new and you wanna be a camper or if you're not new but you wanna be a helper, feel free to ask for joining!
If you need help, you can ask us any questions or access the projects in this studio. Oh, and you can also find help in Scratch Wiki: wiki.scratch.mit.edu
Instructors / Managers: @CrazyNimbus
The first thing to do is to meet a few Scratchers in the comments. Let's all post a "Hello!", and a little about ourselves!
Click on help, then "Try out the step-by-step-intro", and create your first project, using that tutorial. See if you can expand your project beyond the tutorial :)
Discussion Time! Click "Discuss", and make a friendly post in the New Scratchers forum!
Make a reusable sprite with 3 costumes and 1 script in a project, and leave a link to it here!
Create a studio that has a specific theme (Not Add Everything), add some projects to it, invite at least 5 curators, and promote 1 to manager!
Make a project with 3 sprites and have them have a dance party, and move around while dancing. Try making them change color, or whirl around!
Try using the pen feature to draw shapes. First try a square, then a triangle, then you can try and see if you can make a flower!
Try figuring out to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Go to the "Operators" section and find the four blocks that have two number inputs and an operation. If you are on the Scratch Cat sprite, try putting the operator into a "say" block to see if you can get the Scratch Cat to solve some equations!
Try making a themed project. Go to the current SDS and submit a project that fits the theme.
Remixing time! Remix a project, then develop it -- do some changes and add your ideas. When you're done share your remix, and leave here its link to complete this lesson!
Feedback time! Leave a comment on any project that tells something you like about it, and something you think could be added or improved. Try to reach the 500 character limit! :)
Make New Scratchers feel welcome!!! Make a project with at least 5 sprites and add a little bit of creativity from your own side to show new scratchers how special they are!! (Any theme is allowed for this lesson) Remember to add a little something that might help new scratchers make better projects and understand better what scratch is all about!!
Contest Time! Find an awesome contest and enter! Leave a link to your entry to complete this lesson!
Time to try out using the "scrollx" variable! Make a simple scrolling platform (no hard physics). If you need help, we have a tutorial on scrolling by @Teknity. You can also ask for help in the comments. Then when you are done, leave us a link!
Contest Time 2! Make your OWN contest, and let others color/animate to it!
Mic Check ! Record and tamper with the sounds tab after the tutorial called Welcome to Scratch1: Mic Check
