I know it may be a lot, but please read the whole thing.
Omelas. The “utopia” that you’ve been living in your whole life. Some would say that Omelas is a wonderful place, that there’s no place better in the whole world. Those people are the happiest in Omelas. They spend their days living, laughing, loving, singing, basically anything you would expect a normal, exceptionally joyful person to do. Those people don’t even acknowledge the issue in Omelas.
Then there are the other types of people. The ones who definitely have acknowledged the issue, but can’t do anything about it. The ones that try to laugh and sing as much as the others, but always end up thinking back to that one unfortunate issue.
So what is this issue, you ask? This issue is a child. This child is weak. This child is starving, with just enough food to keep it alive. This child has never known joy, nor happiness, nor laughter, nor the beautiful sound of music, nor love. This child is miserable. And what can you do about it? Nothing. Why? Because this beautiful utopia that you live in, this paradise that everybody so dearly loves, is a blessing with a curse. The blessing, of course, being the utopia itself, with all its magic. But the curse… The curse is the child.
You see, all of the magic in Omelas, all of the beautiful scenery and exhilarating memories, it all depends on that one child. The misery of the child, to be precise. While the child sits in a cage at the very bottom of Omelas, starving half to death, naked, afraid, weeping tears that it no longer has, the rest of the population is having so much fun.
If that single child were to be rescued, the beautiful utopia would be no more. All of the splendid memories, the wonderful days where everybody is just messing around with each other and enjoying themselves so much… It would all disappear. The fun times would be gone, and whoever decided to rescue the child would be driven to insanity by the guilt they hold.
Everybody in Omelas knows about the child, except for, of course, newborns. Almost everybody has gone to see the child too. They show up at the cage and peer in at the horribleness that is the child, taking in everything it has to offer. Most people are just disgusted, taking one glance then walking away, never to think about the child again. Other people feel pity though, and want to help the child. Of course they can’t though.
So basically, you live in Omelas along with all of your friends and family, and you feel...
1. You can add pretty much any project that you want to, it doesn’t really matter. (NOTHING INAPPROPRIATE OR YOU WILL BE REPORTED)
2. Stay active
3. No killing anybody, because that’s just rude

A/N: If you can’t already tell, this RP is based on a book called “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas’’ by Ursula K. Le Guin (It’s a great book, go read it)
@gabgabtbob is currently helping make this since this is my first time. There are probably going to be A LOT of changes in the near future so... yeah. I hope you enjoy!
@gabgabtbob is also given basically full control over this RP, and she can change anything if she wants to, so she's allowed to accept your characters.
If you would like to be promoted, make sure you have a character that has already been accepted, and ask about it in the comments. I may or may not promote you, depending on how active you've been and what you've been doing on this RP. Thanks!
