Chapter One: Margarita
I was walking briskly down the hall of Midlothian Middle School to my spanish class. If you’re thinking I was walking so fast and joyfully to spanish because I’m the kind of girl who loves school, then you thought wrong. I despise school, the only thing I like about it is some of my teachers who are nice or funny, and my friends. The real reason I was happy was because I had just finished a book entirely in spanish. I have written many books before, but I was sure this one was the best. Everyone in all of my classes love my books. The way I read them, the characters’ personalities, the ideas, they love it all. Some of them say they can tell I will be one of the best writers ever when I grow up. It always makes me feel so good. When I finally got to my spanish class, I burst through the door and said, “I finally finished it! I finished my book all in spanish, not one word is in english!”. Señora Morris, my spanish teacher, told me to have a seat and after we did our diarios (warm ups) I could read one chapter of my book to the class. Of course it felt like forever, but we finally finished our diarios, and Señora Morris called me to the front and I read the first chapter of my book. When I finished, everyone clapped so loud, I thought all of China could hear it! On the way out of spanish, everyone was saying that this was my best book yet! I knew they would say that. I was almost out of the hallway when I bumped into someone. “Sorry! Hey aren’t you Margarita, the awesome writer?” she said. “Um...I guess you could say that,” I said. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to make it sound like that. I had just heard of you from some of my friends and I have read some copies of your books. They’re awesome, by the way,” she replied. I said, “Thanks, I’m glad you like them. What’s your name?” “My name is Phoebe, nice to meet you” she said. “Nice to meet you too, but we better get to our fourth period classes. Do you want to sit with me and some of my friends at lunch today?” I asked. “Sure, it’s much better than sitting with my brother, his friends, and his girlfriend.” she said with a laugh. “Yeah, I bet it is.” I said, also with a laugh. “Well, see you later then, we always sit in the little quart-yard for lunch by the way.” I said. “Ok, see you there, bye.” she said. “ Bye.” I said, and we both disappeared into the crowded hallway.
