mild language warning.
I woke at a normal time.
First thought that went through my head: oh yay Alex let me sleep in.
Second thought after looking around: oh crap Alex is gone.
I ran to Phoenix’s cabin/room, and kicked the door down.
“Alex is missing!” I informed/yelled at her.
Phoenix, though half-dressed and looking very sleepy, answered with an intelligible answer.
“did you see him?”
“I’m trying to wake up and get dressed”
“okay see ya later bye.”
I ran through the halls, catching a glimpse of one of the staff-only doors open, I looked inside, curious.
Instead of equipment, I saw the dead bodies of Alex and Rose, both shot through the head.
Lucian then stepped out from the shadows.
“oh, sorry you had to see that.” He smiled in that sickly way of his. “I had to get rid of some weaklings.”
“why? They did nothing to you.”
“someone famous once said, ‘only the strong can live among the predators, the weak shall be the prey.’”
“I have no time for your bullcrap quotes.”
“oh, but these quotes are very useful, as you see.”
“YOU MURDERED TWO INNOCENT LITTLE KIDS!” I lost my cool, I’ve had enough of him. “GIVE ME ONE REASON I SHOULDN’T KILL YOU HERE.”
“I taught you all you know-”
“don’t get all ‘I am your master’ with me.”
“look, I have training to run, now please would you get out of my-”
Phoenix came in behind us, still half-dressed, and cut off Lucian’s words.
“what’s going on? Who is killing who? And-” She stopped when she saw the corpses, she walked over to them and knelt next to Rose.
“who did this?” she asked, sadness in her voice.
“I’m sorry, Phoenix.” Lucian said with mock sincerity. “I couldn’t stop him fast enough.”
Phoenix looked at me.
“You did this?” she didn’t look like she believed it.
I didn’t answer. I had over stayed my welcome, you could say. I walked over to Alex’s body, and, without a hint of sadness in my eyes, as others described, took Alex’s black scarf from his corpse.
I walked to the door, then stopped.
“the next time we meet, Lucian.” I turned around, fury burning through me. “will be your one-way ticket to HELL.”
With that, I left without another word.
