So a few months ago, I was diagnosed with ADD. So, I wanted to make a studio to explain what it is and for anybody else with it to share their thoughts!
I have invited all my followers because I don't know anyone who specifically has this. But if you don't want to join you don't have to, don't throw a fuss!
~What does ADHD stand for?~
~What exactly is it anyway?~
ADD/ADHD is a mental disorder which causes problems with focus, controlling behavior, and fidgeting excessively. There are 3 types: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, and a combination of the two. Those who are inattentive have more problems with focus and tend to be daydreamers. (like moi) Those who are hyperactive-impulsive are fidgety, talkative, and tend to speak or act before thinking. Either way, it can cause problems with social skills.
~What causes it?~
Nobody's sure! However, it seems genetic (makes sense to me because one of my parents probably has it too), and may be evolutionary in a few different ways.
~I can identify with a few of these things. Does that mean I have it?~ Not necessarily, but it's not my place to say. I'm just saying what I learned about ADHD. Talk to your parents about it, and if they agree with you, then see about talking to a psychologist or similar counselor.
~How is ADD different from ADHD?~
ADD is another name for the predominantly inattentive version, it removes the "hyperactivity" part.
~Are people with it still nice people?~
For sure! You know me, right? People with it just function a little differently- they just have more trouble controlling themselves.
~I don't have this, but I'd like to show support for those who do and need some!~
Feel free to join then!
