Crystal always knew that she was meant to be someone great,
but she wasn't. She was born the smallest of her family, and
her tribe, and she was always made fun of. She was only a young
dragonet--4 years old. But she faced one large problem: school.
Why couldn't she be home schooled? She didn't want to have to face all of these problems. Especialy by herself. But how was she suppose to go to school and not freeze everything into icicles? Only her parents knew about this. Everything she touches, freezes. Oh well.
The days passed and the time for school came. She had to fly to school with her oldest, meanest, sister Pearil, but she wasn't scared to fight back when she clawed her. She was brave. But Crystal's mom, Snowfall, had given her this special necklace right before they left saying, "Don't get in trouble". Why would she say that? Was there something wrong with the necklace? I mean, she was looking strait at the neclace and not at me. Was there a reason she looked worried when I left?
All of these questions circled around her head and came up with one answer: Her dad had enchanted it. Didn't he give it to her before he died? Snowfall should have told us. Why wouldn't she? Maybe she didn't want my sisters knowing so they could do something to her with it. Whatever it was, she wasn't going to try anything. They were almost there and her sister stopped flying. She turned around and attacked Crystal. "You need to go away right now or else I will bite your claws off!" Crystal had never had a threat like this from her before. "Well, I will do it first!" Pearil lifted her arm to slash at her and almost hit her. But a blinding glow came from her neclace that 1,000 dragons could see. And when the light dimmed, she saw an unforgiving scene. Her sister . . . was dead. She panicked. The only thing she could do was to run away. Fly as far as she could. She took Pearl's bracelet, put it on, and headed to the Seastone Mountains, where no one would ever find her again.
19 Years Later
Crystal soared over the ocean, making large waves behind her. Life had been so good for the past 19 years. She was alone, making
her own choices, there were no rules or school, she was free. Free from her sister's wrath, her mother's rules, and she had avoided seeing anyone ever again. The mointains were so peacefull, placed perfectly along the shore of the vast ocean, with tropical trees placed all around it. Beautiful exotic birds dotted the trees making flying better. Beautiful sun rays went across the wide ocean, and nice warm and humid temperatures always at the greatest level. Life was perfect. She knew that this was paradise.
She landed in her cave that overlooked the ocean and went and sat down. She had made perfect furniture with feather birds, which is the kind of bird that never stops growing feathers, and she made paintings using her clay ink. She looked at her necklace. This is what brought her here. This is what gave her this. She started looking at her sister's bracelet. That was odd. It was always white. Never red like this. She heard something. Here ears pricked.
"After 19 years we are still looking for that idiotic dragon named Crystal. We need to hold Snowfall until we find her. If we do." Said one dragon. "Are we going to still kill Snowfall if we can't
find Crystal?" Said another dragon. "Yes. We are." Said the firstone. This scared Crystal. She had to find her mother before they kill her. She kept listening. "The boss said we would at the end of this year, year 20, right?" said a third. "You dragons have the memory of a chicken. Yes." Said the first one. " Steam, Ember, search the beach. I will search the cave."
Crystal had to do something. Run? Hide? She went with hide. The first gaurd came in, carefully examining the cave. He looked sure that she was here. He came to the place she was hiding. Then she realized what she could do. She stood up, coming out of hiding. "Come and get me!" She jumped up and pinned the guard to the wall. "Where is my mom?" She froze his arms to the wall and backed up a little. "Why do you want to know?" He snarled.
"I said, where is my mom!?" She yelled, and got a little closer, her frost breath ready. "You're a very nice person, icing me to the wall." He said sarcasticly. "Don't make me do the same thing to you like what I did to my sister! But this time, it won't be an accident!" She continued. "And don't try anything. You know what will happen! WHERE IS SNOWFALL?" The guard looked like he was thinking. "She is at Fire Palace, 129 miles to the right of this cave. If you're going to kill me, then just do it." She couldn't just let him go and expect him to leave her alone. But she could do this. "Take me there. If you do anything, I will!" She held out her neclace, making the guard flinch. He growled. "Fine!" She continued from her last sentence. "But Steam and Ember can't know that you're gone." She released him, flying away from her paradise.
