You have been summoned here by the Headmaster, Professor Korlof, because you have a magical bond with an elemental animal. It was apparent since you were born, as a white symbol of your destined element was present of your forehead. You were visited by Korlof in your dream, and invited to the school. You accepted...
At the choosing ceremony, all of the first years are brought to the front of the main hall and stood in front of a large glowing orb. In turn they pace their hand on the orb and their element is sent from the base of it into them, causing their symbol to turn a certain colour depending on their element, and their magic potential is unlocked. They now feel more aligned with their element, ensuring they pick the right egg. They are then taken to a huge cushioned platform, protected by a magic force-field. On the platform are hundreds of eggs, enough for each student. The students will feel a connection to one particular egg and take it. If it is the right one, their symbol will glow and the egg will hatch into a small, glowing, magical animal attached to an element. The animal will have the same symbol and element as the student, and they can talk telepathically. The student will be able to control the element with the help from their animal.

----NOTE----- The animals are all the same size: the size of a first-year's folded arms, just the right size so they can be cradled. They grow with the student, some more or some less, depending on the animal.

-Air (Free spirited, outdoorsy, ambitious, looks to the future, daring, nimble, adventurous)
-Fire (Overpowering, talented, reckless, competitive, brave, confident, passionate)
-Water (Organised, intelligent, logical)
-Electricity (Unique, quirky, bold, curious, bubbly)
-Darkness (Shy, mysterious, emo, introverted)
-Light (Calming, fair, good hearted, good at compromising, intelligent)
And here are the animals:
-Earth: Tasmanian devil, Ferret, Labrador, Hedgehog
-Air: Falcon, Hummingbird, Crane, Owl
-Fire: Wolf, Lion, Fox, Tiger
-Water: Dolphin, Ray, Turtle, Seal
-Electricity: Toucan, Jaguar, Gecko, Bat
-Darkness: Panther, Arctic wolf, Lynx, Raccoon
-Light: Deer, Chinchilla, Kestrel, Dragonfly
(all animals have all powers)
-Can talk telepathically to student partner
-Has only one magical ability e.g- shooting fire and this grows with the student partner. (Note that the partner is not limited to only this ability and learns/knows many others)
-Can toggle between physical and spirit formes:
-Physical: When the animal is physically there and can be touched
-Spirtitual: When the animal is white, partly translucent and can float (or fly if it is a sea or sky animal). The animal is most powerful when in this forme and can become one with their human and go into their symbol to become the MOST powerful possible.
NOTE: When in Physical forme, sea or sky animals can fly/swim through the air.

A magic ball sport. The ATTACKERS hit the ball with clubs, aiming for the buckets on sticks, defended by DEFENDERS. The FIELDERS use magic shots to try and move the ball mid-air, while the SCORERS use ropes of magic to try and catch some small balls and hit them into holes. There are also RUNNERS who run relay laps with their animals, avoiding obstacles with magic to score points.
