Mark sat in the waiting room, listening to the chatter of the patients around them.
"Mark F.?" Someone called, looking up from a clipboard. He stood up and waved.
"Sean is done if you want to go see him. You can take him home once you sign here--" she said, holding out her clipboard with a pen attached to it. Mark nodded and quickly scrawled his name across the bottom of the paper. The dentist led him to a room down a hall, holding the door open to reveal a very tired-looking Jack. His cheeks were puffed with cotton, making him look like a chipmunk.
"Hey, Jackaboy." Mark cooed, trying to keep his voice down.
"MARK, YER HERE!" Jack yelled, sitting up and wincing, as if regretting his decision.
"Shh, Jack, be qui--"
"MARKY, WHERE'S CHICA?!"
"Jack you've gotta be quieter, people are--"
"BUT MARK, I MISSED YEH!"
"I missed you too, now let's go," he said, smiling a little and leaning over to help Jack up. The Irishman stood with great difficulty, then leaned on Mark to steady himself.
"YOU SMELL REALLY GOOD." He said loudly, and Mark looked down and blushed.
"Shh, people are staring." Mark muttered, containing a laugh.
"WHO CARES? I AIN'T NEVER GONNA SEE ANY OF 'EM AGAIN ANYWAY,"
Mark got him to the car within the next five minutes, not wanting Jack to scream out random things anymore.
As soon as Mark started the car, Jack started to cry.
"What's wrong, baby?" Mark asked, leaning over and putting his arm around Jack's shoulders.
"I-I j-j-just w-want a dough-doughnut." He sobbed, and Mark felt a giggle fit coming on.
"No, no, you can't have a doughnut right now, Jacky."
"You can't eat one in your state..."
More loud sobbing.
"I'm just gonna get you home, okay, hon? It's kinda late, it's almost seven."
"Do you want to stop and get a doughnut for tomorrow?"
"YES, MARK PLEASE,"
Jack's "S" sounds slurred to create a "th", and Mark couldn't help but laugh as he pulled up to the doughnut shop.
"I'll be right back, okay? Just stay here."
Mark came back a few minutes later holding a bag with a doughnut. Jack saw him coming and began clapping his hands and chanting "a doughnut, a doughnut, a doughnut!"
He reached his hands through the slit created by the rolled down car window and grasped at Mark.
Mark laughed, getting in the car.
"You can't have this until tomorrow, okay?"
Even if Mark said those words, Jack, not giving a care about what he said, grabbed the doughnut out of the bag and pressed it to his lips. He started to sob again.
"MARK I CANT EAT IT--"
"Jack, I told you that you can't,"
"Jack. Put the pastry down. You can have it tomorrow."
Mark pulled up at his house and helped Jack inside.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" Mark asked, helping Jack to his room to get changed into pajamas.
"Yes, let's watch Wall-E." he decided, leaning against Mark more. Mark smiled.
"'Course, Jacky. Now get some PJ's on and I'll go get it started," he said, missing his head. Jack nodded vehemently and went to get changed.
He came back out wearing a shirt (that belonged to Mark,) and boxers.
"U-uh--" Mark stammered, blushing.
"Is this okay?" Jack asked, walking into the room and getting under the blanket with Mark.
"Yeah, but why are you wearing my shirt?"
"You smell good, remember?"
Mark started the movie, but Jack seemed more intent on watching Mark than the screen.
"Yeh've got really pretty eyes, Mark,"
"And yer hair is fluffy."
Jack looked at the TV, but quickly looked back to Mark.
"Can we go cuddle?"
Mark paused the film, looking down at Jack.
Jack stood and led Mark to his room, curling up under the sheets. Mark soon joined him, wrapping his arms around his waist.
Jack turned to face Mark, and their foreheads touched.
"Yeh've also got a cute nose." Jack muttered, kissing it. Mark smiled and kissed Jack's nose back.
"Mhm, so do you."
Jack suddenly closed the gap between them, their lips meeting. He pulled away quickly.
"No, no, it's okay." Mark said, running his hand through Jack's wild hair.
"I love ya, ya big dork."
Jack blinked, looking back at him.
"I love yeh, too."
"Now get some sleep."
"I want my doughnut." He whined, and Mark kissed him again.
"That was for you to shut up. Now go to sleep. You can have it tomorrow."
Mark woke up later to someone mumbling. Jack pressed his lips to Mark's ear and whispered:
"Mark. Lemme tell yeh about napkins."
"Jack honestly what the hell."
