Many years before this story took place, a kingdom was founded out of a group of wandering travelers who stumbled upon suitable land. They decided to start a city, named Vespre, and eventually this kingdom expanded to wide reaches of territory.
- Fifteen years later, after the kingdom was founded...
In the land of Vespre, a now large kingdom with gentle rolling hills and lush green forests, and with all the majesty one would expect with such a kingdom, ruled a fair and noble king.
Yet, even with all the wealth of the wonderful land he governed, he still was unhappy. This fair and noble king had only one daughter, the only heir to the throne, and she was not the type of person to be ruling this whimsical land.
This daughter, the people feared greatly, since she was known for her snarky, demanding demeanor in which she carried herself often. No injustice to the people was beneath her, for she believed herself to be higher than everyone around her, and therefore treated all the people like pigs rolling in the dirt.
Yet, since she was the king’s only child, when she became of age -which was at 18, she was to take her father’s place on the throne. On the night of her coronation, a riot was staged by the king’s angry subjects. They stormed and trashed the castle as they rampaged through the halls.
She was so outraged, she punished all of her subjects for their insolence. The king could not stop her from her tyrannical rage, because the laws of the monarchy, laid down by the first settlers, stated she would have full power after her coronation.
Eventually the riot became old news, but her character did not. She ruled the kingdom with an iron fist and taught her son to rule as ruthlessly as she had before. This cycle was repeated throughout generations, with each new king or queen worse than the one before.
Even so, most people supported the broken monarchy, and the angry, rebellious people could not stand up to the power of the Royal Guard, nor did they try, fearing their own demise…
- About 3 terrible kings/queens and 50 years have come and gone…
By the far borders of Vespre; Mossbridge was a small country town, with many of its residents underpaid farmers or ranchers. This small town did not have much connection to the castle, except for the rules created and enforced by the small guard that was stationed there.
It was a mostly peaceful place, but many of the farmers and ranchers were irritated with the recent king’s decisions with the law, and the general decline of the noble kings. They had heard of the time when the land was ruled by strong, good hearted kings, and they wanted a better king like the virtuous kings of the past.
They wanted a king that would listen to the people, instead of being selfish and one-sided. Rumors and whispers began to be passed around, planting the seeds of a revolution in the minds of the people of Mossbridge. The seeds spread across the small border-towns, and even into some larger inner-ring cities.
Most, if not all, of the border-towns supported the idea of a new king, a new government and a revolution, but they could not communicate between each other well, due to distances or distrust. Also, many of the inner-ring cities were loyal to the castle, and the royal bloodline, so the support in the inner-rings was split.
To combine all the border-towns and inner-ring cities with the power and support, and turn it into a rebellion, they needed a leader…
