This is a studio dedicated to preventing future horse abuse and to spread awareness about what is happening right in front of us.
Abuse can vary from neglect/abandonment to BTV and Rolkur. All of it is classed as inhumane or unethical as it harms the horse in one or many ways.
- Please only add horse projects
- Please don't be too graphic
- Debates are fine, but respect one another.
So now I will explain some different forms of the aforementioned abuse:
Neglect - An umbrella term for harm to a horse/animal/human.
Consequences:: Illnesses, injury, malnourishment and even death.
Abandonment - Not providing care for the animal.
Consequences:: Illnesses, injury, malnourishment and death.
BTV - Broken at third vertebrae. This is where the horse brings his head in and hollows his back (for a short description, that is!).
Consequences:: Respiratory problems, back problems.
Rolkur - A more extreme form of BTV. The horse is forced into a restrictive headset, causing a hollow back and often the horse is seen to bend to the side.
Consequences:: Respiratory, back problems.
Soring - Soring is often seen when training TWH. This is where harm is caused to the horse's legs and hooves, by applying chemicals.
Consequences:: Back problems, leg problems, greater chance of colicking.
20% Rule - A horse should be able to carry 20% of it's bodyweight, including tack.
Consequences:: Back problems, leg problems and chances of problems in later life.
