Contest Entries
Entries log:
Entry 1: "A Nameless Animation"
Contest hosted by: @NATUREandPLANTS
Contest type: Animation
Did this place? Yes, for some reason. See comments on my profile for a full speech on that.
What place? First. (!!!!!!!)
When I found out: New Year's Eve
How long the wait was: Since I just managed to get mine in before the due date (25 December), only a week.
Personal thoughts thereon: Look, this is a good animation by my standards, but perfectly average and not very thrilling by any other standard.
Prizegiving for this contest? I offered to, and someone told me that was OK, but my name isn't on the prizegivers list so I guess not.
Entry 2: "Winter Girl"
Contest hosted by: @-Milady-
Contest type: Art, winter/regal theme
Did this place? Nope. Honestly didn't surprise me though.
When I found out: 21 Feb
How long the wait was: More than two months, agonisingly.
Personal thoughts thereon: The detailing is awesome and the style is way better than anything I thought I could do, but the face still looks all wrong and thus it's not going to place. Anyway, at least 3 other entries are significantly better.
Prizegiving for this contest? I offered to, but nobody got back to me on that.
Entry 3: "Redrawn"
Contest hosted by: @Aesthetic_CherryIce
Contest type: DMC (only learned recently that stands for 'Draw My Character'), of character in red dress with netting neckline. There were 2 other characters, but that's who I wanted to draw.
Did this place? Sort of.
What place? Fourth.
When I'll found out: 19 January
How long the wait was: Shared this on the 30th, so 18 days.
Personal thoughts thereon: It's OK. The character looks weird, but the original one sort of did as well. Out of everything in this studio, it's the most likely to place. That's mainly because I'm only up against 3 other entries, though.
Prizegiving for this contest? Yes.
Entry 4: "Pteralia"
Contest hosted by: @Teppic
Contest type: Art / cartography / heraldry. I.e. drawing maps, flags and coats of arms.
Did this place? Yes (well it could hardly not, there being exactly 2 entries)
What place: First. Nice.
When I found out: End of March/ 1st April
How long the wait was: 3 months. Oh, dear.
Personal thoughts thereon: It's a respectable effort, despite my map looking like a pterodactyl, and I'm proud of some of the city names, but it's not going to win for that. Especially as CCRP II's cartographer, @-Hannibal-Barca-, is quite likely to spot the contest. Ever seen his maps before?
Prizegiving for this contest? I haven't decided yet. Teppic definitely wants me to, but I haven't decided if I can be bothered or not.
Edit: Decided I can be bothered after all.
Entry 5: "Out in the Outback"
Contest hosted by: @Agnes_Nitt, at my request
Contest type: Art, with a choice of Bread, The Colour Blue or Australian Summer themes.
Did this place? Sort of.
What place? Honourable mention.
When I found out: 19 March
How long the wait was: 3 months, like with Teppic's contest.
Personal thoughts thereon: It looks like the best thing that's going to hit this studio. It might even place.
Prizegiving for this contest? Yes. Offering to do so was part of how I persuaded Agnes to hold it.
Entry 6: "Luna"
Contest hosted by: @Liezelle
Contest type: DMC, underwater theme.
Did this place? Don't know yet
When I'll find out: 15 January
How long the wait will have been: Two weeks. I can bear that.
Personal thoughts thereon: Hopefully the judges think it's half-decent, because I don't.
Prizegiving for this contest? No. The contest host appeared to have all the prizegivers needed already, so I didn't bother offer my services. At this rate I'm going to be prizegiving all summer if I don't make that call occasionally.
Entry 7: "OC" (mine this time)
Contest hosted by: @DogsandCats15
Contest type: Free choice
Did this place? Don't know yet
When I'll find out: 2 March
How long the wait will have been: Too long.
Personal thoughts thereon: It's OK I guess but not brilliant. My first OC drawing is better.
Prizegiving for this contest? Yes, on both accounts.
Entry 8: "Fish Exist"
Contest hosted by: @Pinkmouse773
Contest type: SIYS (Sprite in Your Style. I did the clownfish)
Did this place? No, sadly, but I suspected it wouldn't in advance (long story...)
When I found out: 2 March
How long the wait was: Close on two months. *cries*
Personal thoughts thereon: I love it, especially the colours! They worked perfectly.
Prizegiving for this contest? No; I could not be bothered.
Entry 9: "Emmy"
Contest hosted by: @unigirly9
Contest type: DMC
Did this place? Yup.
What place? Second. Not bad at all, but TBH I was kind of expecting to place somewhere.
When I found out: 14 Feb
How long the wait was: Not too long, considering.
Personal thoughts thereon: For a first no SVE attempt it's really quite amazing.
Prizegiving for this contest? Yes, on my alt account.
Records continued in a project.
