(If I invite you, invite your followers. This needs attention. Please don't change the description though or promote anybody. Also, please don't ask to be part of this studio. You will eventually get an invite)
Many things have been going on in Scratch. Not all of them are good. Lately, many others have noticed that there are things on Scratch that aren't great.
The first thing is F4F. I understand many of you really want follows, but think about it. Is Scratch really for fame? The people who are famous like @griffpatch and @sharkyshar, they got there through hard work, effort, and grit! One of the reasons I don't do F4F is because I don't think it's a fair way to earn follows. People should follow you because you do something great, not because they earn a free follow as well. One thing to address as well, you might've seen that I follow some people and they followed me back. That is NOT F4F. I followed them because I liked their projects, and they followed me back for the same reason.
The second thing is the advertising. Many Scratchers have said over and over again, "Please don't advertise on this profile." yet many still continue to do it. I mean, if you are so interested in advertising, at least read if they want it on their profile a lot. There have been a few issues over this and it's been really frustrating for those who don't like it, especially on famous Scratchers. It's also against the guidelines, so you could get reported for it.
The next thing is art theft. This has been really common now in 2020 and now even in 2021. Art theft is when you use somebody else's art and either recolor it or don't change it at all and don't give credit. This is pretty unfair for the wonderful artists who spent blood, sweat, and tears over the piece. (This is just an idiom!) It's easy to claim it as your own work, but just think, how would others feel if you had something that was copied and the person said it was their own?
Another thing is all the cursing. There have been many instances where vocab was exchanged and it was not kid-friendly. Please keep in mind that this site is for kids and teenagers. Do not make this site one for adults with foul language!
The fourth thing that I've seen is/are political opinions. Please, do not bring politics here. It causes fights and unnecessary drama. It is totally okay to have your own opinions! Just don't get into fights with others about it. While we're at opinions, I'd also like to talk about the BLM movement. BLM stands for Black Lives Matter, and many people have been saying ALM which stands for All Lives Matter. All lives definitely DO matter, but the BLM movement is saying that black lives matter TOO. Saying ALM or Blue Lives Matter is a bit rude to those who have suffered unfair injustice, so please do not say that <3
There have also been wars and races between Scratchers. For example, if somebody races somebody else to some number of follows, it's an easy way to get more follows. For the war part, I'll insert what @Nol_7 had said, "There are also 'wars' between scratches. For example, let's take this example: there is a Nano user and a Giga user. Giga gathered 100 managers in the studio to distribute prizes (likes and subscriptions). And at the end of the 'competition' Nano removed everyone from the studio. Giga took offense at Nano, and a 'war' began. I didn't write the real names, but that was the situation with my friend."
Another thing is online dating. Please, do not make this kids site something for that. Honestly, 10-13 y/o kids should not be dating online. You don't know who's behind that screen! If you really want to date or something, use one of those apps, not Scratch.
The last thing I wanted to touch base on was on all the imposters. As a person who's been impostered twice, I can say that after a while it really gets to your head. It sort of really affected me even off the computer and many people have been accused of really awful things (such as offending the LGBTQ+ community, which should NEVER happen!) and it's heartbreaking to know that people will still think that you're doing it for a fame stunt. It's really not. People have been thinking of oofing themselves (y'all know what I mean, please do not tell this to the younger ones, let them be innocent) and it really has happened.
If you have been doing any of these things, the only thing I can say is please stop. You can change. You can help stop this. It's better late than never. Thanks for reading this. <3
(Also, none of this is the Scratch Team's fault. The ST has done their best to solve these situations and big thank you to them for that!)
