Ham stood on the sidelines, back from changing her clothes and having a good dinner. /Huh. Asleep I see. I can't confront her now! She has two friends that are on her side./ Ham thought. /I better go to sleep to though. Stalking people can be exhausting./ She creeps back into the trees and lets out a soft yawn. She makes her way to a hill and finds a place to sleep for the night. Staring at the stars above, she closed her eyes and into a deep slumber.
"Good MORNING!!" Cheese screamed into Paige and Ella's faces. She looked less pale, with her hair combed and tied back in her trademark braid. Her eyes were still so dark they seemed almost bruised. Leaned over with one hand on her knees, Cheese poked at Ella's nose. "WAKE UP I'M GETTING BOOORRREDD!! IT'S 8 AM GET UP! I wasn't able to sleep last night HAHA." She flopped over and stared at the sky.
Pxl stared hard at a mirror in the half-destroyed bathroom of the castle. She had melted into the shadows in the woods that night, spreading herself as far as the eye could see. She could hear their conversations, about the darkness of some souls and trying to learn about her own past. She didn't care about that last part. Pxl's past had caused her pain, but it was no secret worth keeping. The only thing that stilled her mouth when she tried to talk about her past is how much of it was bad. Who cared if Paige started pawing through her memories? She might've beShe stared into the mirror, edging closer. Both eyes glinted a deep magenta. Almost everyone in the world who had ever done something worth doing had a purple eye glint, but most could outweigh that. Pxl was one of those rare souls, completely taken over by shadows and destined to do nothing but evil. Maybe that was true. She wished she knew how to be good, and wished it were an easy feat. But every single circumstance in her miserable life gave her no choice but to be bad. It was Fate, some may say. Maybe destiny. Pxl reckoned it was just good old-fashioned bad luck. She closed her eyes. A shadowperson with a shadowy soul. How cliche! Most people like her had one eye glinted, the other silver as moonlight. She felt sorry for Ella. She was probably scared, and her good eye was probably starting to go grey. Pxl melted into a nearby mirror, filled with self-l0athing, and not a drop of self-kindness.
Arobot walked among the sleeping former cabin mates, when she noticed that the form of Pxl appeared in the mirror, but not in real life. After a few seconds, she figured it out. She turned into a blue-grey fluffy kitten and curled up where her reflection was near pxl’s.
Pxl stayed silent for an uncomfortable amount of time. "Hi, Arobot." she said. "...I don't-" She froze. Not because she saw anything, or heard anything, but because she didn't know what to say. She sat down on the tiles, close to the cat. "I feel like I keep doing things wrong. Ella and Cheese and you and every single person I KNOW is just so... good. It's like it takes no effort for you to do things right. Is there a secret? A formula? An algorithm? I don't know if you know, but most people have a purple glint in their eye. One eye with it, and one without. Equal potential to be good OR bad. But apparently, I'm all bad. Both eyes glinting. Can you..." Pxl sighed, laughing at herself. "Can you teach me how to be good?" She starting wheezing, laughing. It was the desperate laugh of a desperate girl, the sort of laugh that made you scared of someone. It was a pathetic scene, really. Pxl was on the floor, crying out bits of shadow that splattered the tiles.
|That's not true,| Cheese whispered into her mind. |Everyone does terrible things. It's... I guess there is a secret. Everyone does something that clears their glint, sometimes without knowing it. Paige thought I don't have one. You just have to learn how to clear it, then things will look up from there. Don't think about how I'm in your head, let's just say I'm part of your consciousness. You're not bad Pxl, you're just like everyone else. Don't cry.|
Ella woke up immediately, after being poked in the nose. "Jeez, Cheese!" she said, "Hey, that rhymes!" Ella doubles over laughing for no reason, visibly still half asleep. Her eyes are still droopy, and her hair is in a ratty pile on top of her head. She grabs a hairbrush out of her bag, and starts combing through the knots. Eventually, she finishes, and styles it into two Dutch side braids, tying it off with her black hair bands.
Her eyes were alive now, no longer looking dreary and life-less. You could see the eager-ness come to fill her face with a keen sense of joy and excitement for what was to come that day. This was how she felt every morning. A new day, all her own, to do whatever she pleased!
"FINALLY!" Cheese looked up. "I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE OF BOREDOM."
